i got mine at a local firestone dealer, the cost wasnt any different than tire rack once you figure in shipping and mounting fees. i dont notice any noise because i hear so much other noise from my exhaust, intake and engine torque dampner. but like i said before i love the tires and when i need a new set of tires i will probably get the same ones.

Hey Icebox, did you go with the H rating tire, or the V rating tire? I'm looking at some quotes at Firestone, and the H rating ones are about 7 bucks cheaper per tire. Should I just be safe and get the V rating ones?

I'd say fork out the extra $30. If there's that little of a difference, get what's recommended. The manager may be able to cut you a deal.

Alright. Firestone was my first look at for pricing; I'm still going to be looking around at other places. From Firestone, however, here's the grand total for all four tires, installation, and balancing:

Quote
Bridgestone Potenza G019 Grid 225/55R16 121661 V 4 $110.99 $443.96
 Computerized Wheel Balance $35.96
Installation FREE
Valve Stem $11.96
Excise Tax $0.00
Tire Fee $4.00
Tire Disposal Fee $8.00
Total Price $503.88

How does that sound to you price-wise? I'll post back if I find any other deals. Firestone does do price-matching, however.

Doesn't sound bad to me, though I was quoted around the same price for 17's. They can't do better than that?

That was just their internet special. I have take that quote to them or whatever. Although, I don't think it'd be any different if I called them. I'm going to anyways; a phone call never hurts.

Edit: Just called, it's roughly the same exact price, give or take a dollar.

Firestone does do a price match. As for going "H" or "V" speed rating, it is totally up to you. You won't do any harm by going with an "H". That sounds about right on the price though. Z as for the price being roughly close to your quote for 17s, a 215/50 R17 are more common compared to a 225/55 R16. The more common a tire size is, the less expensive it is. Its all about supply and demand. A rare tire size that will barely move out of inventory, the more expensive it is. It cost money to make a product, and if the product barely moves out of circulation, it will cost more to make that certain size.

I figured as much. To get the OEM size 205/60/R16 tires for my car, they were like 25 bucks cheaper a piece, lol. I still have to go through the yellow pages and see who else even sells Bridgestones to begin with. I checked yellowpages.com, but there wasn't shit near me. I guess I have to break out the book. I did call a local auto shop that I regularly go to, but they wanted $650 for the same thing, so I said fuck that, lol.

Apparently, Firestone doesn't even offer an H rated Grid at 225/55/16. I guess it just depends on the sizes. At least I can take that out of the equation. :P

I'm eager to get these tires! I can't wait to feel the difference between them and my OEM Michelins! Lol, when I called Firestone, the guy was giving me shit about how if I go up three sizes that the tires will rub. If Rocketstarter is running 225/55/16 tires on EX rims like me, I don't see how there could be a problem.

Check out Tire's Plus. Tire's Plus also sells Bridgestone and it is actually Firestone's sister stores.

I honestly wasn't even paying attention to what size Jeff was looking for.

My bad.

Sweet, check this out:

     Computerized Wheel Balance         $51.96

     Installation         FREE

     Valve Stem         $11.96

     Excise Tax         $0.00

     Tire Fee         $4.00

     Tire Disposal Fee         $9.00

     Total Price         $440.88

They actually have the H rated ones, and they're a fuckton cheaper! Screw the V rating, lol. Never in my life will I go above 130mph! I don't even think my car could handle that anyways. Thanks for the info, yet again!

Also, just to be 110% sure, getting a 225/55/16 tire will not cause any problems with rubbing? I know Rocketstarter got the same size tire, but I don't know if he had to do anything to get them to work or not.

he told me that was the size i should have gone with but i took the advise of the shop installing my tires, they said that it would be too big of a stretch for the tire, but there are alot of people that would say otherwise.

wellll it's time to get new tires.  and after reading through the thread it seems like bfgoodrich are some of the top ones, but they're a bit too much for me.  I'd like to keep it to no more than 150/tire.   I was thinking of sticking with the kumho ecsta spt's that i have.. but i'm not sure if I want to keep the same tire size.  Oh, and these are strickly for the summer due to the fact that I swap out to OEM during the colder months up here in MD.

currently I have 225/45/18 kumho ecsta spt's on my 18"x7.5" rims.  I'm not sure of the offset, but I'm not sure if this tire is the correct size, I'd like to keep the same width, but possibly have a slightly smaller sidewall, unless you guys recommend against it.  i honestly don't know anything abuot tire size and dimensions and such, so any advice would be gladly appreciated.  Thanks guys!
