I still say fuck macs. The only Apple product I have and will ever own is my phone. I'm anti Apple in every other sense. I don't see the point of paying so much for something that you can't really upgrade.

I just think it is a far superior product as far as construction, materials, design, OS, everything. I used to have network problems out the ass, I haven't had a single problem. My Dad used to serve as the IT when he owned his company and he set everything up. So, the only blame I see is the hardware. I really dont know what you would want to upgrade on a mac. Everything is pretty much top of the line. Everything they come with standard seems to be an option on a PC.I had been wanting to try a mac for a long time, because all my friends are pro mac, I got a free one, and I love it. Everything is just much simpler and problem free.

I like upgrading things. I can't leave anything alone. I still don't see the point of macs when their "entry level" laptop is in the $8-900 range. Maybe more. I'm probably wrong on the price since I never looked it up because of my lack of interest in them.

I'm with Z on the anti-mac thing lol. Being able to overclock my computer is a huge advantage over Macs. I have a Core 2 Duo with stock speed of 2.0ghz, and I overclocked it to 3.25ghz.

Can't do that with a mac. Thank you for not jumping on the bandwagon like Bill did.

I don't know if I'm anti Mac but, i'm such a casual user that it's not worth the investment. Hence why I asked for cheap suggestions.

Exactly my point. Can't find a mac for cheap that you'll use casually. With the PC, you still have the option to upgrade internals later if you so desire. With a mac, you can't and are forced to get a new one. Fuck that.

I would still wait and get a mac. My PC will be for sale in August, so if you are still looking then it'll probably be here.

No need to save funding isn't an issue I just wouldn't spend the money on a MAC. If I got a crack head deal on one I may try it but, other than that I have no interest.

Again, good luck finding a mac at crackhead prices unless "it fell out of the back of a truck."

Have to chime in. Last Friday my hp laptop was open not on. Friends 1500 dollar mac book was as well are drunk friend accidentally spilt less than half a beer on mine and some on the mac. Total cost to repair mine? 400. With upgraded parts. Friends mac book ? 930. And they couldn't save his files.  Mac suck

I love my mac.  Take it over windows/pc any day.  Super stable equipment and I also run windows on it too.  Bought it on ebay with over 2 grand of software on it.  3 yrs later, still no problems or crashes.

How do you overclock a processor on a PC?

It depends on what kind of computer you get. I built my own PC just so that I could overclock it.

You go into your motherboard's BIOS and start tweaking the settings. Most consumer brands like HP and Dell don't allow overclocking. However, I think that the Dell XPS series allows you to a little bit.

used to love PCs, build them and overclocked them. then got tired of windows and all that clutter on my desk, got Mac, now i have screen, keyboard and mouse, so much better. id have to comare it to cars, you can get civic put small engine and boost it or you can get sti with same HP and speed and it will just work. so for ppl who have time to fuck wtih computer go ahead and get PC, if you want something that doesnt get viruses and just works, get mac

Technically I think PCs are generally faster hardware-wise. Last time I looked on the Apple store, the iMacs didn't have crap for hardware until you got in the $2000+ range.

The way I have understood it is the way Mac OSX is designed it requires less. That would explain why my lesser equipped mac is fast than my pc.

On a different note, I just went and tried to get a dumb and dumber tux for prom. No luck..

my imac is fast enough for me. if you want power then get macpro. if 8 cores is not enough for you then maybe you should look into something else.
last time i looked, dual cpu computers are not redily avaliable on pc side

You can get a pretty beast iMac. I'm planning on getting an iMac for development then I'll use a macbook pro for school.

I got this crazy idea yesterday. Here's the step by step process:


1 buy a go cart
2 take out the whimpy 5hp motor
3 stick in a 250cc dirt bike motor
4 hang the fuck on!


Seriously, I could have a fast as hell and fun little toy for under $700 bucks. Youtube it, there's some crazy people putting busa engines in go carts.
