Similar to a thread I posted on Gen7accord.com, this thread is dedicated to posting reviews about your brake upgrades.

If you are a member of G7A and wish to repost your review here, be my guest.

For those of you new to this site, or not familiar with my account on G7A, please start paying attention here:

This thread is for reviews on aftermarket brake products.  This thread is not for asking questions or other inquiries.  If you have a question about fitment, PLEASE PM the person who has the equipment that you have questions about.  This eliminates conflicting information in multiple threads.

If you would like to include pictures, please limit them to one or two good shots.

[Brake component]: List the type of upgrade. ex. [Fr Brake pads]
[Manufacturer]: state the manufacturer
[Location of purchase]: Where'd you get it? If you got it from ebay, please list the seller's ID.
[Impressions]: Good or bad? How do you like the parts that you installed? Any excessive NVH?? Speak your mind!!

Brake component: Front Slotted Rotors
Manufacturer: PowerSlot
Location of purchase: Tire Rack
Impressions: Awful!  I will never buy another PowerSlot product ever again.  These rotors would start to vibrate under normal braking at freeway speeds (70-80 mph).

Brake component: Front Pads
Manufacturer: Hawk HFP
Location of purchase: Tire Rack
Impressions: Considering that they were paired up with crappy rotors, I can't give a good review.  What I can comment on is that they created a lot of dust and my wheels were always dirty.  The braking performance was alright, but not a huge difference,

Brake component: Front Slotted Rotors
Manufacturer: PowerSlot
Location of purchase: Tire Rack
Impressions: I would have to agree with Tim on this one... they look cool and are "supposed" to help clean off brake dust from the pads, but thats where the pluses end.  They don't improve braking performance and are prone to warping just as easily as stock rotors.  Don't buy these unless its for the aesthetic value.

Brake component: Stainless Steel Brake Lines
Manufacturer: Goodridge
Location of purchase: Tire Rack
Impressions: First of all, I have driven numerous accords and I know that the brake feel in some of the newer ones is a lot firmer than my 03 sedan.  Keep in mind that I am writing a review for my specific year and trim model.  For everyday driving, the SS lines feel the same as the stock lines, so theres no loss of everyday driveability.  At the limit of braking, however, the SS lines provide considerably smoother pressure to the pads resulting in better pedal feel.  The stock lines can cause the pedal to feel mushy at full braking power, but this is not so with the SS lines.  The pedal is firm, which allows the driver to have greater control of the braking strength at the limits of traction.  Overall, I give this product two thumbs up!  :D

Brake component: Front Blank Rotors
Manufacturer: Brembo
Location of purchase: Tire Rack
Impressions: Love 'em.  I am so glad that I got these rotors.  These rotors feel so much better than the OEM rotors and my previous PowerSlot rotors when braking at freeway speeds.  These were my original choice the last time I did my brakes, but they were not in stock so I was forced to make a bad decision.

Brake component: Front Sport Pads
Manufacturer: Brembo
Location of purchase: Tire Rack
Impressions: I am also as happy with these pads as I am with the rotors.  I am not sure if it's the upgraded rotors, but I am very happy with these and would definitely get these again.  I'm not sure if they have less brake dust because I switched over to graphite wheels when I upgraded my rotors and pads, so the dust is harder to see.

Brake component: 1994 Legend Front Dual Piston Calipers
Manufacturer: Honda/Acura
Location of purchase: Tech Auto (I think)
Impressions: This was another upgrade that I was very happy about.  The swap was less expensive than a BBK and they feel better and bite more than the OEM and aftermarket replacements that I've used.  I would recommend this upgrade to any OEM freak or someone on a tight budget that doesn't need a BBK.

Brake component:  Front rotor blank
Manufacturer:  Wagner
Location of purchase:  O'reilly Auto Parts
Impressions:  Drastic improvement over stock.  After 30K, no warping or vibrations.  Minimal brake dust.  Quiet.  Was initially concerned because these rotors do not have holes for the set screw.  Was instructed it was a non issue.  I haven't had any problems, even after multiple tire removals for rotation, etc.  Will buy again.

Brake component:  Brake pad
Manufacturer:  Wagner
Location of purchase:  O'reilly Auto Parts
Impressions:  Comments same as above.  No complaints.  Will buy again.

[Brake component]: Front rotors
[Manufacturer]: Powerslot
[Location of purchase]:Brakes R US or some website online, good price
[Impressions]: While I don't have the similar problems of the other two, I got the slotted and dimpled rotors. They take a bit to get warmed up, but have saved my life twice. Coupled with the BFG Sport tires makes a nice stopping power. I have noticed some similar vibration at highway speeds, but it was nothing like the stock rotors. Only had them on for 9 months, so roughly 10k.

[Brake component]:Front brake pads
[Manufacturer]: Hawk
[Location of purchase]: same as above
[Impressions]: Kind of same as above. Take some time to get warmed up, but are nice then. Big problem is the excessive amount of brake dust they cause. I just washed my car less than a week ago and the squealing/brake dust is incessant. The wheels are getting pretty dirty from the dust again too. I wouldn't buy these again.

Squealing doesn't have to do with the pads against the rotors actually.  The squealing is caused by the pads vibrating against the caliper and caliper bracket.  This can be resolved with anti squeal.  It's a gel that you spray on the back of the pads and then put everything back together.  It cushons the pads so they don't squeal.  I'll be doing this when the weather clears up because my Brembo pads are squealing like a motherfucker.

[Brake component]: Brake pads
[Manufacturer]: Hawk HPS
[Location of purchase]: Tirerack
[Impressions]: Same amount of dust as stock, better braking power.  Will buy again.

[Brake component]: Front rotors
[Manufacturer]: Brembo blanks
[Location of purchase]: Tirerack.  $55.  Can't beat it.
[Impressions]: Better stopping power than stock.  Wears slower.  Still rusts.  I would paint them before installing (engine enamel, high temp ceramic, etc).  Still warped before 5000k miles, but I beat the crap out of them.

Brake component: Front and Rear Slotted Rotors
Manufacturer: EBC Ultimaxx's
Location of purchase: http://www.autoanything.com
Impressions: They work extremely well but I think it's due to the combination of pad and rotors. Love the fact that they come with a black hat so I dont have to worry about rusting.

Brake component: Green Stuff pads- front and rear
Manufacturer: EBC
Location of purchase: http://www.autoanything.com
Impressions: Same comments as on the rotors and they hardly dust or squeal. Excellent grip after they're warmed up for a lil bit.

[Brake component]: Fr Brake pads
[Manufacturer]: Hawk HPS
[Location of purchase]: Speedtech
[Impressions]: Very happy.  Brakes work very well both in cold and hot.  Much less brake fade.

[Brake component]: Front Rotors
[Manufacturer]: Brembo Blanks
[Location of purchase]: Autopartsway.ca
[Impressions]: Very happy with this as well.  They are smooth quiet, and since I painted where the pads don't touch the rotors, they are still rust free.

tim will the legend calipers clear 16in ex-l rims?

[Brake component]: Fr Brake pads
[Manufacturer]: Pepboys ceramics
[Location of purchase]: Pepboys
[Impressions]: stops better then stock that for sure. really good pedal feel but I think I have warped rotors now because the shudder are coming back but less severe.
Cons: They scratch up the oem rotors bad.

Brake component: Front and Rear Slotted Rotors
Manufacturer: Powerslot
Location of purchase:tirerack
Impressions: Much better than stock rotors better stoping power, dont warp as much. I AutoX my car very often and they take abuse very well. Need warming up though.

Brake component: HAWK HPS All corners
Manufacturer: HAWK
Location of purchase: TireRack
Impressions: Brake dust, squeal, is there but it doesnt matter to me cuz 1) My rims are black, 2) i just dont give a shit about the dirt. :)
They aswell need warming up, but afterwards good performance.
I got this combination with a GOOD discount as i bought rims and tires at the same time.
But next will be BBK.

[Brake component]: Redstuff pads [front & rear]
[Manufacturer]: EBC
[Impressions]: decent enough during normal driving conditions but gain stopping power exponentially when heated. simply put: the hotter the pad gets, the harder it grabs the rotor. If you're diving towards the apex you'll find yourself most likely lifting off the brake pedal as the temps build up. Brake dust washes off easily, and there isn't a lot of it to begin with.

[Brake component]: Slotted Rotors [front & rear]
[Manufacturer]: Powerslot
[Impressions]: Do a good job at keeping the pad surface fresh. However they do transfer vibrations to the brake pedal when cold. Once toasty it's more of a slight pulse. Make a lovely groaning noise <3

[Brake component]: Superblue [typ200] Brake Fluid
[Manufacturer]: ATE
[Impressions]: Excellent fluid. Dry & wet boiling points are extremely high for having such high non-hygroscopic nature [good up to 3 years according to manufacturer although I do recommend to change your brake fluid yearly regardless of what it is]. Offered in 2 colors [Superblue & TYP200 which is amber] for ease of replacement on track days & otherwise. And at $10 per liter it's a absolute bargain. Carries a very good reputation in case you're skeptical.

[Brake component]: Front & rear slotted rotors (w/ gold cadmium platting)
[Manufacturer]: KVR performance brakes
[Location of purchase]: Option JDM (Toronto, Canada)
[Impressions]: really good under normal driving conditions. shorter stopping distances. best of all no noise, no vibrations. have yet to put them through extreme driving conditions

[Brake component]: Front & rear Semi-metallic carbon fiber pads
[Manufacturer]: KVR performance brakes
[Location of purchase]: Option JDM (Toronto, Canada)
[Impressions]: really good under normal driving conditions. shorter stopping distances. No squeeks, and low dust. have yet to put them through extreme driving conditions

this set up is pretty good so far. I installed them in the winter, so its hard to get full potential out of them. cant wait to see how good they grip when heated, when the weather gets better. also to see how good they are against warping...
