On a side note, I just found out that it's gonna cost me about $850 for my 105k tune up. I know I can get cheaper but, I don't trust a lot of people to do that sort of work on my car.
Dayummmm $850, does it really cost that much or more... ? Im at 90K now so I got like another 1 1/2 years before I reach this point. But I will have to find a hook up somewhere.

It shouldn't cost you that much being that you have a timing chain (which doesn't really need to be replace) and not a belt like I do. I am, however, going to be looking at all options for getting this done. I still have about 8K to go so hopefully I can hold out until it gets warm again.

Isn't most of the 105k tune up just stuff that we do all the time as reguler maintance like oil change, transmission fluid, ani-freeze, under hood and cabin filters. The only thing I could see is the water pump if anything, but correct me if I'm wrong

A lot of the stuff is just that, regular maintenance that can be done easily in your driveway if you have jack stands and some basic hand tools. The timing belt and water pump are the big stuff though. If I had a v6, I'd make the trip down to VA and have Paul do the work. I trust his experience and knowledge, and would rather support his business instead of a dealership.

I'll def keep it in mind when I need to change out the water pump and timing belt. But who knows Ive tackled it on every other car I owned so why not this one and as to my previous rides I have alot of room to work with in the CM.

Billy, your i4 has a timing chain. You should just have to check the tensioner and get a valve adjustment at around 100k. You shouldn't need a water pump replacement, but the service requirements may have changed.

Billy, us I4 guys got timing chains so there's no need to replace unlike Rich who got a V6 which have timing belts. Maybe the most we would need done would be re-tightening of the chain if it gets slack and I'm not sure maybe change just the water pump.

Yeah, having Paul do it is one option I'm considering. Time to run down to VA is the problem I'd have to sort out.

Hey Billy. I'm getting my fluid done soon too. I don't have anywhere to do it myself since my driveway is angled and you gotta have it flat. I know some mechanic by my place thats going to replace my fluid and filter for $35 (we bring the fluid and filter). Didn't negotiate but I'm pretty sure we bring two cars we can get it done for $20 or so and it takes like 30 mins.

You can always do it in a parking lot at Autozone or something...that's if you can handle working outside in this type of weather right now.
