oooh, just thought of one!  there should be a notification when someone replies to post that you have posted to...and maybe as an option when you make the post as to if you want to know if it has been responded to. hope that makes sense

I like the shoutbox idea. Puts a nice spin to the chatroom thread if its what I'm thinking. Just out of curiosity is it a live updating part of the site?

It's not completely live, but rather it updates every minute. I've found that with the one I use on a different site all the time, it works flawlessly. You'd never guess that it's not a live shoutbox.

If you look all the way at the bottom of the page in any thread there is a button that allows you to subscribe to a topic. This should provide what your looking for

Maybe it depends on how you set up the view in the user control panel. I had a very very long night last night but, it is in the bottom left on the view i'm using.

You already receive email notification if you have subscribed to a thread.  What were you thinking of?

they have one of these on my friends local STI forum.  it updates every minute and if it says who's logged in.  it's definitely a great feature. and they use it all the time.  If you could impliment this here it'd probably be a big hit.. especially for those of us who are really bored throughout the work day...
