I just did a quick search and noticed that CVT(Continuously Variable Transmission) fluid is for hybrids and other vehicles that use that type of fluid and the Z1 are for Automatic Transmissions. As for what car takes what usually tells you in the back of ya manual.

What ever you do, make sure that you use Honda fluid if you change it. I'm not sure why, but I am sure someone else can chime in and elaborate further.

To answer your question: I don't know.

The honda fluid is chemically different trust me. Pay the extra 3 bucks a quart or rebuild your tranny like I did.

I'm sad nobody invited me to this thread.  Honda Genuine fluids are the best for your vehicle.  HG CVT fluid is for Continuously Variable Transmissions only.  HG ATF Z1 is formulated for all other honda automatic transmissions.  HG produces a range of fluids that can sometimes be confusing but that's why I'm here.  I remember from my shop days when I had to remember certain rear differentials got HG VTM-4 fluid, and some received ATF-Z1...it was annoying.  The use of improper fluid can cause a failure.  It is important to only use HG fluids becuase they are specially formulated for honda vehicles.  Other brand fluids, even those who state they are compatible with honda vehicles may cause malfunctions that will not be covered under your standard vehicle warranty.

You are correct.  HG fluids can only be purchased from dealers.  You may be able to get it online but you never know.  It's worth the extra money.

There are plenty of online resources that provide good prices for HG fluids.

Ok, Thanks guys. I didn't realize that Honda made more then one type of fluid. Now When I go to the dealer I'll know what I'm talking about. The strange thing happening is when I'm on the parkway 60-70 mph and make a hard stop like for an exit or toll both, the rpm's will go up to like 3,000 and the car will sound very wound out. Then I tap the gas and it drops back to normal rpm's. Happened to be a couple of times already. The fluid has 20K on it but don't think that would have anything to do with it. Just wanted to change it in the next couple of thousand as maintance anyways.

Change the fluid, and see if the condition improves. If it does not go and look for the next thing.

Tranny fluid has a service life of around 30k miles.  Please elaborate on your symptoms.  Are you saying that you come off the highway and as you stop, the RPM's jump to 3000? I am unsure of your symptoms and need clarification.

A couple of times when stoping hard casue of traffic or exit lane at the last minute, the rpm's went up and it sounded very wound out. I thought I was in first or second gear but was in drive. Maybe cause I'm making such a hard stop the transmission doesn't downshift evey gear and just skips to first. I dunno what actually happened but I was able to hear the whine of the engine which made me look at the rpm's.
It happened twice last week. I'm trying to stop more easily and not wait for the last minute to break
