New Desktop :D
«

Don't know if there are any computer builders on here (except for AV6NHBP6SPD) but here's my new desktop:
Why?
So as some of you guys may have heard me whining that the damn power supply on my old build sent a surge to the MoBo and fried the board and processor. To resolve that issue I ended up building myself another computer. This time I went the route that would completely, if not more suite my style of computer using (multi-tasking like hell)
Specs:
CoolMaster 360 Chassis [Basic Black; 6Bays]
Intel DG43NB Motherboard
Intel Q8200 Core2Quad
Antec 80Plus Series PSU [Standard 380w]
2GB Kingston DDR2 RAM (will be buying another 2GB stick soon; they only had one)
80GB Hitachi SATA HDD [Primary]
50GB Seagate IDE HDD [Back-Up]
500GB WesternDigital SATA HDD [Multimedia]
500GB Seagate SATA HDD [Multimedia]
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3
Not New:
500GB WD 'My Book' External HDD [Multimedia]
160GB FantomDrives External HDD [Multimedia]
HP DVD420 DVD/DVD-r
Impressions:
This was my first build with a quad core so I really didn't know what would compliment it so I didn't really bother going all out on video/audio cards or anything for that matter and now that I'm using it... I don't think I have to. This computer is far better performing than my old one. Quad Core processors are SO MUCH MORE SMOOTHER RUNNING! Especially when multi-tasking (4+ large applications running at once). For half the price of my last pre-made computer (HP1200n) I'm really happy with my decisions.
Price:
approx. 477$ [not-bad considering how well/fast it works]

pretty good specs for the money spent out of it. Unless your a gamer user, the specs are more than sufficient enough to run anything.

Very nice setup. I just reinstaled Vista last night. I was getting the dreaded BSOD, turns out my heat sink wasnt properly seated. Thank whatever diety you believe in as soon as the procesor got too hot (10 secs) the comp shut down. At first i thought it was my power supply, then i opened the case and saw the heatsink holding on for dear life.

I think 4 GB of ram is plenty when running XP. Vista seems to be a RAM killer.

Yea and if your running the 32bit version it only recognizes 3gigs. I cant wait to see what surprises Windoze7 has in store.

Vista had a chance to be good. They should have acknowledged the problems in the begining and pledged to fix them. The fact that it has texas holdem as a game is awsome thou. I play that all the time when im split/join/dl/unrar/Qpar ing something great time killer. but back on topic. It blew big time in the first couple of months cause nothing was compatible with it, nearly every game i had didnt run. After they got all the drivers sorted out it was decent, a system hog, but decent. Nothing will top XP (In my mind) talk about a stable OS. Rarely did i have a problem with it.
My next rig is going to be a game server and it will be running XP. Ive got to p/u a spare HD so i can dump some games on it, and a heatsink, then it will be operational.

Suleman, how long have you known me and you didn't know i'm a computer junkie.
I just finished mounting a wall LCD in my apartment in Austin to run dual screens with my laptop. I built my last desktop as well as my brothers. My last desktop had led super silent stealth fans, and 6 sets of cathodes, along with a custom button panel...i'll take some pics of it next time im in houston.

I guess he has money to burn. I'd rather waste my money on parts that actually make my car faster, hookers, and drugs. Fucking amateurs. :
