18x8 +40, will those fit well w/o rubbing (4cyl sedan)

I'd also like input that if I lower in the future (~2inch) will it rub then too?

Assuming 245/40/R18 tires I guess

What about 18x8 +45 (TL A-Spec) wheels?

235/40 R 18 seems to be best choice tire at the moment.

I think with this offset I will not be able to dump the car unless I get rolled fenders... from what I could tell by looking at my car it would be a tight fit with a drop, but perfect without a drop. I am just mostly worried about rubbing issues... If I drop it will be only to remove the gap but not go under the fender, hopefully that is still possible!

It could with some heavy rolling and pulling of the fenders.

I was thinking more along the lines of the 1.5" deep might be too much for the front arm

its 1.5" extra depth and sticking out on both sides which is intense

You think the rear would need pulling or rolling? Rear looks OK from measurements but tire would rub unless I stretch a tire across.

Front is really tight due to the arm when I looked at it....

I can get some BBS LM 18x9.5 for $1000 CDN thats why I am asking... as you can tell thats an insane deal

I wouldn't take the attempt. You are going to cause future damages down the road. Like say if you hit a really bad pot hole, your rim could bang up on the front lower control arm. You tire will more and likely rub. If the tires keep rubbing, you can damage your tires and blow them out. I rather be safe then look good. IMO.

Yeah. And seriously since I dropped the money on audio if I put out for rims like this I'd have no money left...

Not really a good plan financially! Plus I would need tires anyways.

I need help with the sizing of new tires.... got about 45k on mine and with the wearing of the new suspension and all...they need to go

I have a 17 x 7 rim with a +40 offset
I was rocking LingLong 225/45/ZR17 directional tread tires (came with rims) clearance was fine

tires performed ok.... not much of an all seasonal tire tho
i live in New Jersey and will be getting a performance all seasonal tire,
my wheel gap is fine, would be nice to get it to look a little lower...but i want performance and long life... this is a daily driver and i dont race it

any comments are appreciated.... once again tire sizing is my question

You can stick with a 225/45 R17 or you can revert back to OE tire size which is a 215/50 R17. You can go with the 215/50 R17 to kind of fill the wheel gap. As for tires, I suggest the Bridgestone Potenza G019 Grid or if you got a little extre money, Bridgestone Potezna RE960AS Pole Position. Both tires are an all season tires, and they track really well in light and medium snow.

I've got the Grids on my car and can't say enough good things about them. The ride is comfortable and quiet. I've taken it through some tight curves and they stuck to the road nicely, no tire squeel, yet...

x2!

That's what I've got, and they're pretty awesome! They're a noticeably rougher ride than my OEM Michelins, but it's just something that I've got to get used to.

thanks thien i'll look into it...
had a debate with my dad about wider tires putting more strain on axles and cv joints etc
i think i might bump up the tire circumference to fill the very small gap... prolly creating a quieter and nicer ride too i would imagine

i'll check prices and buy within next 2 weeks...

Going with a 215/50 R17 should have a better ride comfort since there is more meat as you can say on the tires.

hey tim, i saw your car with 245 40 18, do you have any rubbing problems? cuz im thinking of getting the same specs on my gp's next week, since its cheaper than 235 and wanted to look more flush btw the GP's has an offset of 48.  With the offset i dont  think ill have any problem with rubbing without rolling the rear right?
