So I got a call from my Honda dealer saying that I'm due for a timing belt replacement. Just wanted to know what else needs to be replaced at this point. I'm at 150k km and its a 2004 auto.

your honda dealer is an idiot, your car doesnt have a timing belt. k-series have timing chains.

Do you have a J series or a K series?  That's the one important piece of information that you left out.

The Js are due every 105k or 7 years whichever comes first. If you haven't done it yet, the dealer probably doesnt show any records of you doing one so that is why they are recommending it.

I'd have the water pump replaced while your at it.  Also, at least the plugs, if you haven't done so.

Yeah I got a J-series motor.  They also suggested the belts, water pump and tensioner. But for $1100??? With my disability pay, that's going to rape me up the ass and out the mouth.

It's well worth it the job will cost you 5X that if the belt breaks, and the water pump or tensioner going will break that belt instantly.

I know that when it comes time for me, I'll be bringing my car down to Paul.  Hopefully it'll be at the same time I'll be doing my conversion.  I'm saving up for that one.

If it were me, I'd take the trip down to Paul to have him do it.  I'm sure he will cost less and you know the money will go towards a very helpful member in the community, instead of the pockets of some dealership.

I would love to get Paul to work on my car. Might even get a J35 crank, rods and pistons put in also. But at this point, after my car accident, I can't really drive long distances.
