It's worth the drive.

Just realized that I'm coming up on this.  Never thought I'd have this car for this long. Guess if I do this, I'm keeping it for some time to come.  Not sure if I can make the trip down to Paul's as I said two years ago.

It is about time for me to do this as well.  I had planned to take it to Paul but with his recent move, he is kinda far.  Not sure what I'm going to do yet.

Anyone have any opinions on these timing belt kits?

Anything else I need to get?

Gates is a solid brand. I seem to remember Paul strongly suggesting OEM parts.

I have the Aisin kit on my car and it is exactly like OEM. Every single part matches the OEM manufacture counter part in term of maker.

the gate kit the water pump is made in China and the belt is gate brand. the tensioner is the same as OEM

use the AMX sync to get 25 dollar credit off 100+ on amazon.

^ You got plenty of time left Nelson. I changed mine at about 110K.

Ike, Paul is only a hour away from where he used to be.

Only downside is it's going to be a pain being that he doesn't have garage together as yet. Only he can say for sure tho.

I would do OEM BTW

Since you're looking to get rid of it, its a good selling point.

Depends on the buyer. Someone may factor the cost of the replacement and try to knock it off your asking price of 9k.

Rule of thumb is 7 years or 105k miles. The belt itself is made of rubber. Rubber components do get dry and start to crack. If its been over 7 years, I highly recommend replacing the timing belt. I suggest the gates belt, OEM Honda water pump, and to be honest, that's all you need. You really don't need a tensioner. I've done many J series timing belts, and I have never replaced the tensioner because it rarely is needed to be replaced. You can tackle it yourself as long as you have the proper tools and the mechanical aptitude.

Or me risk it breaking on me while I wait on mike to come pay me a visit. Bc if it does break he can get the car for REAL cheap.

"What a bargain!"
