I wonder how much sq ft we would need to live comfortably? I'm aiming for 2000, but is that too much for 4 people?

Then on the other hand my parents would love to unload their 3500 square foot. When they had 3 kids at home, they thought 2800 was too small so the added 700. It's all what your used to.

I guess he has money to burn. I'd rather waste my money on parts that actually make my car faster, hookers, and drugs. Fucking amateurs. :

You guys aren't helping lol...I'll probably just have to go look at a few houses ranging in sq footage and pick the one that feels the best

Get the one with the spare bedroom that way you have an alternative to sleeping on the couch.

For sure Mike
My plan is to get a 4/2. That'll be the 'man cave': PS3/47" flat screen/comfy couch/surround sound/laptop and whatever else I wanna throw in there.

That will all end up in the garage, with your lift. you know it'd be better! Watch football, work on the S, not be nagged.. oh and don't forget to put a grill/mini fridge out there so you can eat too. you'll need your retreat! haha

Here's what my parent's did when they were wanting to downsize. They made a list of every room in our house and decided if that was important to them. Like this
4 bedrooms- Yes
3 baths- Yes
Formal Dining- no
informal dining- yes
living room- no
family room- yes
2 sitting rooms- maybe 1
office- yes
kitchen- yes
laundry room- yes
So, you determine what rooms you want and can afford, and square footage can be determined from there. I think my parents decided they would be comfortable with about 2500. Do you just want bigger rooms or more rooms? If more rooms, what type. Something my parents always had was a "play room" for the children to basically do what ever they want in. Just some suggestions.
