It's a glass front and back. I think they were trying to be too cool and it bit them in the ass. There's also got to be a connection between the glass and the white iPhone.

No doubt it is a design flaw. I think it looks bas ass and it feels like a million dollars, but it breaks so easily. They definitely made it disposable. Apple doesn't even offer repair services. You go in, pay $200, and you walk out with a new one.

I've said this about Apple from day one. I've worked with them on a coperate level trying to make a deal for my company, and even when your talking about spending 100's of million's of dollars with them it's there way or the highway. They do the same thing with consumers which is absurd.

haven't tried anything else besides an iphone.  Can't say yes or no.  I do know that my friends macbook running windows is fast as all hell.

It's part of the reason why Apple is so profitable but, I think it will hurt them in the long run. It looks like they went fashion over function more and more throughout the generations of the I Phone. I had the original for a long time and that thing was literally bullet proof! I think they have become subsequently worse in quality as they have progressed.

I've had 4 iphones and never cracked a screen.  They've crapped out internally, but never a screen issue.

My 3G was great as far as durability went. I dropped it all the time. I dropped it in a fountain and a gutter both submerging it completely and it never seemed to affect it. It still works, but it just sits in a drawer now. I guess the construction of the 4 just isn't as forgiving.

If you drop your phone occasionally,  I would recommend the defender series otterbox. Granted it is a bit bulky,  but from experience it is worth every penny. Bill,  are you using the vzw iPhone 4 or the at&t?

Thanks for the clarification. I know I could find this out by reading a few more pages back, but have y'all heard any of the functional problems with the vzw iPhone?  Other than its screens lack of durability.

I've heard that the Network isn't very good for data with it, and if you are web surfing and not in  a 3G coverage area your calls go straight to Voice mail.
