The virtual keyboard was originally a sticking point for me but, after dealing with the Samsung Vibrant (Fascinate for you Verizon folks) for a week I really started to like it. The on screen keyboard once I got used to it was great, and I have huge fingers. At the end of the day all of these phones should run well software wise its just a matter of picking the best hardware for your needs.

The "virtual" keyboard is a big sticking point for me also.  I had a LG Voyager that was a nightmare to use, and my BB Storm wasn't any better.  Through all the bullshit I went through with those phones, I had always liked the keyboard on my 1st Gen iPod touch.  It wasn't perfect, but it was so much better than those phones.  When I used the Fascinate yesterday, it seemed to work as good as my iPod touch.  I really didn't like the physical keyboard on the Droid 2 though.  It was just very difficult to use and the screen of the phone kept getting in the way.  I just didn't like the feel of the Droid 2, and I just don't like Motorola stuff.

I have absolutely no problems with the virtual kb on my 3G. I prefer it over a physical kb TBH. The Storm's kb sucks because of having to "click" the damn things. Definitely not BB's finest hour.

The Evo 4g's keyboard I think is just as good as the iPhones. The only thing I didn't like was the way it looked. I think this is only because I'm used the iPhones and I could easily get used to it and it be the same to me.  Although, the guy who had the evo I was playing on came from an iPhone. He said it wasn't as good, but I couldn't tell.

I find the Galaxy S keyboard to be right on par with my 3rd gen Ipod touch.

The one thing I liked about the Fascinate was the response you get when you press a button.  It's way better than that click shit that the BB Storm has.  Anyway, I just got off the phone with Verizon.  They're going to let me get whatever phone I want for free.  I'm going to play around with a few more phones this weekend when I'm in MI this weekend and decide what I'm going to get on Monday.  It seems like I'll be going with the Fascinate based on previous experience with Samsung and the limited time I've had with the phone.

wow, finally got my 3g, took me like 2 minutes to jailbreak and unlock, seems the same as my 2g most because i dont pay for data use. could only wish i remember what jailbreak program i used for ringtones...

Tim, I got the Fascinate over the weekend.. It is INCREDIBLE.  The keyboard worried the hell out of me, but it's more accurate than my blackberry. and easier to type on.  You should love it.  Not to mention that gorgeous Super AMOLED screen. yes. win.  I'm now part of skyne...COUGH droiiiid.
