So I'm currently on CM10, but now that the official JB rom is out, I'm tempted to go back to stock and try it out for a bit.

None of my phones have stayed stock for very long. Mike, my recommendation for your NS is either Rasbeanjelly or XenonHD. For your OneX, I haven't the slightest idea. HTC phones are a pain in the dick to root and mess with. I like Nexus devices. They're easy.

i didnt have any issues rooting my htc evo. running cm 7.2 , never looked into any other roms. i just wanted to tether for free and didnt bother to see if there was a better rom.

There probably is. I know with HTC devices they need to be s-off and some other bullshit to do anything with them. They're tricky and not as easy as Samsung devices. The biggest hurdle is unlocking bootloaders and gaining root access. After that, you can do whatever you want.

I guess I'm more of a purist when it comes to Android. I'm waiting for the next nexus that should come out by the end of the year when I'm due for an upgrade.

The life proof case is actually waterproof. I can attest to that as I have dropped my phone in water with this case in without issue. It's a lot less bulky than the otter box as well.
