Why can't you root then just do it again when froyo comes out?

Well the dev people would have to come up with a new root method, because the old one was only for 2.1. So it's really not worth the effort.

Who here has AT&T?  What do you like about their service and what do you dislike?  Have you ever had a problem, and how has their customer service handled it?  I don't fucking care about your phone, I just care about the service.

when i had att they were great,  just when i had to start  paying for my bill it was too expensive.

Yeah, there wouldn't really be a point of rooting, then returning it to OEM for the froyo update, and then rooting again after that.  definitely too much effort.

Tim, just FYI, the only bad thing I've found with this phone so far is the battery life just absolutely blows.  I was listening to music and pandora this morning for about 3 hours at work, and was texting for a little while and my battery is at about 1/3 power.  That's with an all black background mind you. (black on amoled screens actually turns the pixels off; thus saving power)

From what I've read, AMOLED screens consume more power than LCD or whatever the other kind is. Right now I usually get about 10-13 hours a day out of my phone under heavy web browsing and texting. Also, the screen is at max brightness most of the time because I'm walking to class. I have it set to auto brightness. I've been wanting to get the extended battery, but it's pretty damn expensive. I'm waiting to see if there are any promotional codes to take some cash off.

I probably wouldn't be using it for music.  I have a dedicated iPod for work, and can also stream XM on my work computer.  I'd basically be using it for texting during the day.  As long as I can keep using the charger at my desk, I should be good.  It has the same charging port as my blackberry.

I've actually heard the opposite.  because the Droid Incredible is switching from the OLED screen it had to an LCD.  Engadget did a review on I think the nexus one who had to do the same thing with it's screen.  and they had results saying that the OLED screen was leaving the battery with more of a charge than the LCD one.

I think battery life on the fascinate has more to do with the fact that it's overloaded with carrier bloatware that I can't remove or shut off. Rooting will solve this though, since I can re-clock the processor (carefully ofcourse) so that it's not running full speed unless it's in use.  Battery life will be greatly increased once I root.

Tim, are you sure it uses the same charging port? I thought so too, but didn't realize that micro and mini-usb are different.. (i r dum)

In my usage Its got alot to do with the AMOLED I'm noticed if I turn the brightness down in the battery widget my battery last about 30% longer. It's a considerable amount. I like to set my phone to adjust the brightness automatically so I just keep a charger around. 1 at work , home and car

When I get paid again, I'm going to invest in a couple of those dock chargers, one for work, one for bedroom (new alrm clock yay!)

that's the dock they have for the fascinate.. it's not really great looking, but it would function fine i'm sure.

Oh, and just to let you know, I installed launcher pro last night, and customized it the way I want.  I'm pretty damn happy with my phone right now.  performance does seem to have improved a good deal.  I'm just looking for new dock skins and such now for a bit more eyecandy.

oh, and if anyone has used the app Jorte (it's a calender/to-do organizer) it's awesome.  very good calender
