alright guys, I need opinions. I need to order my new coilovers.. badly. but I can't seem to decide which ones to go with.  I have a budget of 1500 (thank you credit union) and would like to get as much out of my money as possible including an alignment and camber kit installation.  I already have the rear camber kit, just not installed with an alignment.

So my options are:
1. tein SS (obviously) but since they're about 1200, that doesn't leave me with much to get the install and alignment. however, they're worth the money.
2. Nex-GT's little more than half the price of the Tein's  (~700) however, less adjustable, but come with Paul's blessing. (always a good thing)
3. D2's.. don't know much about these, but I think Mike (bluek24) has them, and I remember him stating that the handling is superb. and the price isn't too bad.
4. Go all out for the Tein SS-P's which would blow my whole loan..

Now, I know most of you guys will say go for the Tein's.. which I probably will.. my next question is.. will the EDFC work with just the SS? or do they only work with the SS-P's?  I just want to get the best bang for my buck here..

i say tein.. i love my SS's.. the EDFC MIGHT work on SSs but the motors may need some modification... but there are people that have gotten them to work.. the EDFC is specified for the SS-Ps though. you could probably get away with just the SS and add teh edfc on later.. or even get the pillowball mounts later which will cost 4-500 bux.

SS will also be easy as hell to resell later if you want to or need $$

thanks Kai, I think i'm set on the SS's as well.  but if I plan on getting the pillowball mounts, I might as well just spring for the SS-P's.. it's only 2 or 300 bux more for the ss-p's.

i recommend the ss-p's since that is what i have. dont worry about the installation because we can all help with that at the next meet. then all you have to do is go get a professional allignment. i didnt get the edfc cuz it only takes a minute to walk around the car and adjust the stiffness.

I'm not worried about the installation.. of the actual suspension.. I'm just worried about the camber kit because i don't wanna be driving to an alignment place even 5 miles away with camber too far outta wack.  So I'm just going to pay a shop to do the camber installation and alignment all in one deal.  my dad has a connection with this shop up here that does all of that stuff, so hopefully I'll be covered for pretty good deal.

i've driven a car with the ss-p's before (the "fallen") and loved how it felt, so I may have to blow my entire loan on them.. then shell out the cash for the camber install and alignment.. my problem is i dont have a single weekend available until the end of august now.. and there's no way I can get the coilovers shipped to me by this weekend lol.. oh well, maybe I'll find a day during the week to take off work.

it may come down to a flip of a coin between SS and SS-P's.. lol

I would go with the Nex Gt's. Cuz you can get those as well as all the other stuff you wanna do and come out with some left over dough.  How much adjustability do you need to drive around MD and VA? If you were autocrossing and shit like that then needing fully adjustables would make sense.

Yeah that's what my reasoning was when I bought my Basics and suspension wise I could hang with everybody during spirited driving so I figure why make the big $$$ jump.

thats true you should really consider what you need them for. if you arent racing/tracking the car at all then dont spend all that money on the teins and especially on the EDFC.  it's nice but also expensive. i would like to eventually get it because when i autoX i set the shocks to full stiff but then would like to soften them up for daily driving (races are a few times a month right now). if you dont see a need to change your stiffness more than like once a month then it's just spent money with little return on utility.

hopefully ill be 3 wheeling again next weekend in woodbridge!

DAMN KAI!! hahaa that looks like so much fun!

I agree with you guys, I do drive a bit "spirited" and our roads aren't really the greatest.  I'd just rather not deal with my suspension going again.. so I wanted to get the best I could for the money I got ya know?  i'm just sick of shoddy shit that will eventually break with normal wear and tear.

Well the suspensions you are comparing are all IMO the same in quality and reliability. I believe they would all last you the same amount of time. They way the differ is by ride comfortability(if that's even a word. LOL!) and function.
