I was just admiring Milan's handiwork, when I noticed this thing.  What the heck is it?  It looks like a miniature SRI!  What does it do?

PS, Sorry for butchering your photo, Milan.  If you want me to take it off, let me know!

What's a buttfor? LOL. Keeding.

Instead of a filter going there, you're supposed to have a tube that goes into your filter.  It's called a breather tube.  (Go look for yourself Smiley )  The point of it is to suck out excess air (blow-by, if I'm correct) in the crankcase and reuse it.  If air in the crankcase could not escape, it would cause leaks in the gasket (the weakest points that would leak).  The filter in its place would still allow air to escape out of the crankcase, if there was enough pressure building up.

Thanks for the clarification!  Smiley

isn't that kinda illegal? I know in CAli it is since your not suppose to vent your oil into the atmosphere n stuff.

It's really nothing special...B series people have been doing it for years.  It doesn't do anything but vent blow-by gases and oil vapor into the atmosphere instead of having it go through your engine like its supposed to.  It doesn't matter if you hook it up or not...it's about looks mainly...and not gumming up your intake if you have a lot of blow by.  Oil catch cans FTW!
