Figured I'd ask here, the CV axles in my car make a clicking noise while turned and accelerating, but only when they're cold. After awhile, they'll warm up and the noise goes away. I haven't found any TSB about it, recall or anything from Honda...but I have seen some complaints from owners up North like me.

Prodding one of the techs at my job, he tells me it's the grease. Because the noise goes away, the axle is fine. I've noticed other companies have a TSB about it (Mitsu and Suzuki, what my dealership maintains) but Honda has no info on it. The local dealer won't really help, other than "Oh let the techs check it out,". -__- I don't need a $115 diag fee for what I already know.

Anybody know if there's something Honda can do about it? Otherwise I'm just gonna take care of this myself at work.

I'd just pop them out, open them up and re-grease them.

That's basically what I'm gearing up to do.

I'm waiting until we get a new batch of grease to come in for shop use, two cars need CV axle grease repacking. It's made for cold temps, so if it's good enough for Mitsu, it's good enough for my coupe.

Yeah. That will save some money instead of replacing them. Considering that you have access to grease, it will only really cost you time and new boot clamps.

The perks of being a parts guy in a dealership.

Speaking of CV boot clamps, I should see if we have any extras.

That is weird. The clicking is the joint getting stuck every once and awhile it's catching. You can try regressing them but you won't know until you clean them out and check the balls for putting and the joint.
