Okay, figured I'd ask others here about if my internals are my good for the K24. Today, seven months ago, I changed the oil in my coupe. Since then, I've only driven 3400 miles, I live only a mile away from work. Most days, it sees 4-5 miles at most (since I go back to my apartment for lunch). Every three/four days I'll drive out on the highway, usually rack up 18 miles doing that, just to get use out of the car.

Now, I've never noticed moisture build up on the bottom of my oil cap, my oil looks still light brown in color and clear. This is the longest I've let it go, since working at this dealership job. Never had a low oil pressure light, low oil light, no trouble codes. I'm changing it this weekend, I use Castrol Edge synthetic, 5W-20 with Honda oil filters.

Should I worry about these intervals? Should I change it sooner? I'm thinking about sending out a sample of the used oil to see how it held up. Just from what I can see, visually, it doesn't look bad.

Thoughts?

I would definitely do this.  That way you know for sure and won't waste money replacing the oil sooner than you need to.

Like Ike said, a used oil analysis would be best. I change my oil every 3000 miles in my motor, but it gets a little more abuse than a stock k24.

3400 miles really isn't a big deal. You may find out that you can go longer. Some people have been suggested to go 5000, 7500 and even 10000 miles between changes.

If I was driving a lot more, I'd probably change the oil every 6K or so. The thing that does always bug me is, hey...seven months on the same oil, even if it is just 3400 miles.

I plan on sending a sample out, who knows, I could be worrying over nothing.

now I just did a oil change using Synthetic Amsoil 5w20 and Amsoil EA oil filter. They say and recommend
SERVICE LIFE
•Normal Service – Up to 25,000 miles, 700 hours of operation or one year, whichever comes first, in personal vehicles not operating under Severe Service.
•Severe Service – Up to 15,000 miles, 700 hours of operation or one year, whichever comes first.
or a year whichever comes first.

now I know amsoil is highly recommended and accredited but even when I used normal synthetics I changed it around 3500 or 4000 instead of suggested 5000. but now using Amsoil im curious if I  an go as far as they say I can?

Drain some out and send it in for a used oil analysis at different intervals.
