Custom exhaust pipe size?

I plan to have shop fab me up a custom exhaust today. I want to use 2.5" pipe from the j-pipe back to the y-pipe split but I'm not sure what size to use after the y-pipe split to the mufflers. Keep it 2.5" or go down to 2.25"?

Why only a 2.5" pipe? That's something I would use on my K series. If you want to stick with the 2.5", step down to a 2.25" after the y.

3" seems to loud and raspy from the videos I've seen. Plus 2.5" pipe is cheaper than 3" pipe.
