so i have been frustrated for a very long time about this squeking that is coming from my passenger side front wheel well.  i now it is some how related to the ac because it stops the moment i cut of the ac. but i am unsure on what specifically is the problem. i also have a friend with the same problem and his mechanic said it was the ac clutch. so my question here is to find out if anyone has had to replace it and see if this truly was the problem before i shell out $150. see part # below.

I believe Tim has done something with the compressor or clutch hit him up. At $150 wouldn't it be wise to replace the whole compressor.

Just for shits and giggles first try this.....

While the car is running and the belt is squeaking spray the belt with some brake parts or carb cleaner, see if the sound goes away briefly. If so I would look more at the belt or tensioner......

Next try the same on the AC clutch, even a little oil or grease on it will cause slippage and noise.

I actually replaced the compressor clutch because my AC wasn't working.  When we tested my compressor, the clutch wasn't working.  That's why I replaced it.  Even after I replaced the compressor clutch, the compressor was still bad.  All this time I had a squeeking noise coming from my compressor.  I replaced the compressor with one that I pulled from a low mileage Accord in a junk yard that was a few years younger than mine for $60 and it's been working fine ever since.  I was lucky because at the time, a friend of mine had a garage and had the machine to evacuate and recharge my ac system.  He did it all for free, so I'm not sure how much it would cost you to go to a shop and have it done.

I would take Paul's advice first.  If you want, I have that compressor clutch that I bought new a few years ago.  I only had it on my car for a few months before I replaced the compressor.  Make me a reasonable offer if you want to get it.  I would still be suspicious of the compressor though.

Are you running the UR pulleys? Did you change to a smaller belt? I have the same noice coming from my pass side wheel well..and its the tensioner that is making that fucking sound when the ac kicks in.. I know thats my problem because i sprayed it with WD40 and it stoped the noice but it came right back after a few miutes..

If it's the pulley on the auto tensioner, you can just replace that.  It's only like $12-15 for the pulley and the bearing cover.
