Good evening,

I'll make this short and sweet. I'm locked out of my car. It's running and I don't have a spare. I have a lock out tool kit but I have no idea how to get back into my car. Any suggestions?

Which lockout tool kit is it? if it is the airbag, slide the wedge in the door at the top of the b-pillar and then slide in the air bag. Continue to pump the airbag until it pushes a gap in the door, Next slide the long stick thing in and either unlock the door or pop the door handle.

If you are using a slim jim, take a pocket knife(if you have one) and pry(gently as to not scratch the window) the window guide thing out a little and stick the slim jim in with the hook to the rear of the vehicle. Now, Proceed to move it until you find the stick the door lock is on and pull it until you pull it up.

For those of you asking (Mike) "How the fuck did you manage that?". I went out to start my car, and it decided to lock itself. It was the worst timing too, the huge blizzard just started to hit us last night too.

I'm curious as to how the car locked itself while it was on? mine only ever auto locks if I turn the car off, get out and close the door and it auto locks 30 seconds later

The only way I know of for the car to lock itself while its running is if you take out it out of Park or go above a certain speed in a manual. I don't think our cars have that option though. I could be wrong.

When the wire harness on the master switch on your driver side door is not plugged in all the way the doors will lock itself while the car is running. It happened to me four times within 2 days until I had an issue with the windows not going up/down as well. I removed the switch plate from the door and just unplugged and replugged the wire harness in again. Solved the window problem and the door locking while it was on. On normal conditions the doors don't lock when the car is running only once you take the key out and close the door. If you don't hit the lock button on your key fob the car automatically locks itself after 30 seconds or so...

ahhh okay...Ya I was trying to come up with how it happened. I was aware of the stock abilities of how it could automatically lock, but next time i went to my car after reading this i tried different manipulations and couldn't come up with anything (had my friend sitting in the car just in case lol)
