Mine updated last night. It does seem to be quicker. My WiFi connection seems to have improved but I don't know if the update had any effect on that.

I agree.  The battery life is amazing for an Android device.  I haven't used the hotspot or bluetooth yet, as I mostly use it for casual internet browsing and watching movies while on travel.

I picked up a Chromecast last night.  It's pretty nifty, and for $35, it's actually pretty cool!  I bought it for when I go on travel, so I could stream movies from my tablet to the hotel TV.

I am also refreshing my laptop from a SATA2 SSD / 7200rpm HDD combo, to a SATA3 SSD/SATA3 SSD combo.  I finally decided it was time to upgrade.  I am hoping for improved battery life.  I also did not want to buy a new laptop, so I figure this is a good way to improve its performance; it should feel like a brand new laptop, and for a lot less than I would have spent buying a new one.  It should also be screaming fast!
On a side note, these 7mm SSDs are fucking slim as shit..

So I just purchased a tablet! It's for my parents though. Dell venue 8 pro. From what I've seen of the windows 8.1 platform with full MS office, I think it's going to fit both of them very well.

My roommate works for dell and they have her a 100 dollar off coupon. For the 8 pro and the micro USB to USB adapter was 238 after tax.

Never got my levono thinkpad touch2... USPS lost it so refunded.

On the plus side. The surface RT I massed order came in. Suppose to be both to flip on Amazon, but end up keeping one.

Its pretty good considering how much people bitch about the RT. It does lag if you open tons of apps, but it is a good overall. Pretty good if you just want something to take notes on and do some web surfacing. App store is still limited and there are ads in some official apps that really piss me off. Eg. Pandora ads that interfere with split screen function. Also having a keyboard is a plus for it. This is my first tablet with a keyboard. I used ipads and a Nexus 7 before this. They keyboard just makes big difference in productivity.

SNES app is pretty sweet through. Playing super mario on it with a 360 controller Smiley

I got the Dell Venue 8 Pro. It was the best bang for the buck for what I need it for. I prefer my desktop for work and such and I have my phone for everything else. The Dell Venue takes a a little getting used to especially trying to use the desktop mode without a keyboard or stylus (these are also on my christmas list). On the plus side, it's easily portable, feels solid, snappy performance, better battery life than an ultrabook/tablet with the same OS and features and retails for $300. Got mine for $230 and if you really want it. Microsoft is offering it for $99-$199 tomorrow morning.

Ordered a refurbished Roku 3 for $70. I don't pay for cable, so I look forward to this filling that gap. It looks like it has a shitload of features. I was originally going to get a Chromecast, but it doesn't even support Amazon instant video yet.
