New development. I decided to dual boot Ubuntu 12.10 next to windows 7 ultimate (both 64 bit) so that I can build android on it. Figured I'd get my hands dirty doing something else I enjoy.

Ubuntu is the best for android development with virtualbox and a good kitchen setup you can customize roms easily

Ubuntu is going to be the dev environment. I left windows on there (the laptop had been running 7 since the day I bought it two years ago). I gave each OS equal HD space on a 500 GB so I think they'll play nicely with each other. They both have plenty of space to grow should the need arise. For now, its to get my feet wet but I'm afraid the machine won't be able to take it for very long due to its age. So long as it holds me over until I can upgrade my tower, I'll be happy. If it dies, that'll just be the perfect excuse to get me a Nexus 10.

Nice.  I have Ubuntu running in a VM, granted, I need to update it.  I'm debating if I want to setup some sort of triple boot on my laptop or not..

I have a dual boot via partitioning now. I'm debating how much I want to add a third partition for Ubuntu vs keeping it in a VM.

OS X Lion and Windows 7.  I'm not particularly a fan of the Unity desktop, so that would have to go.  I also don't boot into Ubuntu as often, which is my initial hesitance to adding a third partition for it.  If I were to add a third partition, I might also take the opportunity to install Mountain Lion and Windows 8 on it.  Then the laziness factor comes in, especially since I don't use my laptop as much these days.

I hear ya. I have the same thing just in reverse. My desktop is older than dirt (technology wise) as I've had it for about 5 years and haven't used it in months. I think the last time I fired it up was to setup my home network. It certainly has the HD capacity to dual boot. Hell, I could quad boot if I really wanted to but the processor and memory wouldn't be able to keep up. The beauty of dual HD's in a desktop machine. Now to wait for tax time so that I could upgrade.

The upgrades I've been looking at throw in a 1TB SSD but last thing I want is for that to crap out from multiple writes and shit. I'll stick with the drives I have now so that I can pursue my developing endeavor.

I have a 120gb SSD as my primary boot drive.  I swapped in a 750gb SATA II drive in place of my superdrive for data storage.

Thats my next upgrade the data doubler i have a original 750gb drive but with mac os x lion it was super slow , i got a samsung 840 pro series ssd with trim enable and the change in speed notice is incredible. the battery life even improve which is always a plus. and Z the price of a 1TB SSD is ridiculous right now but am sure the pirces will drop soon

That's the thing. The upgrade packages for new case, mobo, processor, ram, power supply, and that hard drive is about $300. It's really not that bad tbh.
