I don't see how the salt gets on your lawn with the curb there.   Judging from the picture, both your neighbor and the houses across the street don't look like they have any problems.

I'd consider laying down some sod if the grass seed isn't working.  The bush/shrub idea is good but if the grass won't grow there, then I doubt they will either.
Being the first year I'm not sure what the previous owner did. What happens is the city salts and plows after and it pushes it all onto the grass.

The issue is not a snow pile. The slat from the road killed the grass. I was all brown and dead its torn up because I raked it to plant. Seed hasn't germinate and its been weeks. Salt absorbs all the available water.

This webpage has some good recommendations of lawn care after salt damage.  Maybe it'll help

Good luck!

I was a nervous wreck at ours, but it only took about 45 minutes. And it took about a month for it to set in lol

Haha, yeah they said that we should expect about an hour for the whole process. I don't think it will set in until we finish settling in.. Too much to do!

So I'm thinking about applying for a mortgage in the coming days. Any words of wisdom from the recent home buyers on here? I've been reading all these reports on news sites about the smaller banks being more lenient on lending again and thinking it may be a good time to try because to debt to income is high tho CS is good (damn you student loans) lol.

We went thru a realtor and she found us a lender.  Worked out well since we are first time home buyers and there are plenty of programs out there to assist us.
