Engine RATTLE idle? mounts?
«

I have an 06 LX 4cyl 58k mi. The rattle sounds like metal to metal like a drum roll. Sometimes all is good but sometimes its worse. This happens sometimes when i brake. It also happens when i park my car on a decline (my driveway) in D or R and my ebrake on. i pop the hood and my engine is shaking quite a bit. once i put it back in N or P it seems fine. I have recently changed (after the fact) my oil, spark plugs, transmission fluid, and air filter. my idle seems stable and car runs smooth while driving normally. any help is much appreciated.

I could be a mount. You might not notice the rattle when your driving because of road nose. I have about 88k on my V6 and I've had a pair of mounts fixed/replaced.

Look for fluid on or around your mounts. Like the consensus has already said, you have one or two bad mounts.

Mine never leaked any fluid. I know its one of the symptoms but, mine were ripped up pretty bad and didn't leak.

May have leaked all the fluid out by the time you guys looked at them. Then again, not all of the mounts have damping oil in them. Who knows.

Contact NVA-AV6 he can hook you up. He "repaired" one of mine, and saved me a ton of money

Well then. I've never had one go out on me (knock on wood) and I wasn't there when yours went out. I'm just going by what's been told to others.

One the J30 ones any way there is a dust boot on the top which may contribute to keeping the fluid inside. Mine were in two pieces lol
