VTEC not kicking in Yo!
«
on:

Was driving home tonight fine the whole way... hitting past 3 rpm and getting that nice sound frommy fujita intake, all of a sudden im like 10 minutes from my house and nada. I felt like I wasn't going anywhere! I have no CEL on or anything seems out of place.
What should I be looking for cuz this has never happened to me before, normally I know when the vtec doesn't kick in the CEL is thrown because of a sensor...
Someone chime in...

am not sure if am right but i been told if you have issues with the break light switch your Rpms wont go over 3k because the mini triangle light comes up which i think has to do with tcs but it wont give out a code to pull just a light have you seen anything like that?

Check your oil level. If you're experiencing the same problems other guys have had where your oil is disappearing, that's something you may experience.

Thanks guys, will do when I get home...
No lights on my dash btw...
What would cause my oil level to drop..? Haven't seen any oil spills under my ride. Also had oil changed the end of June.
Thanks,

On checking the oil. That EGR + hitting vtec a lot = oil consumption

Honda VTEC engines, economy or performance, are notorious for burning oil and IIRC, the other thread that was started about burning through three quarts mentioned it being normal for our engines to burn about a quart between oil changes.

Well checked oil levels and they seem fine. Took the ride around the block twice and all is well now. Weird. I will get an oil change soon though just in case.
Thanks for the information dudes always appreciated!

Not on our econo VTEC I4's. You heard wrong and whoever told you that should be punched in their balloon knot.

Staying into it when your car is clearly having an issue probably isn't the best advice any way

Well im stuck off the highway waiting for my pops to come look at my ride that has decided to throw a CEL... I dunno what's wrong now and far from an auto parts place! Fu*k me! According to the manual it's going to Honda. I have this weird whinning sound while I was trying to pull off the road and the car like huff and puffed its way there. While it was in drive the green light kept blinking... any clues for now until I get it to the dealer hopefully today? Damn Honda Day this sunday to ftw!
