Actually its a pretty easy process. You just have to download the update file then boot into recovery mode and apply it. froyo on the X is pretty neat... but there are still some bugs that need to be worked out. I would wait a week or two when the official OTA update is released.
Edit: check out Smart Keyboard on the market. It's a pretty neat soft keyboard. The free one just doesn't have word predition, which i hate because it never works. Ever. No matter what system im on.

Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate for VZW comes out on the 8th. I'm excited to see/mess around with this thing finally. especially since it'll be updated to froyo by the end of September..
are the rumors true that it won't be getting Gingerbread though (down the line obviosuly)? something about it not having enough RAM or something. I can't remember.
Yeah, Jeremy, just wait for the official release of froyo, it's not worth it to root. You'll end up having a $200 paperweight.

I haven't seen that... In fact this article points out that this is a rumor. I'm sure Google will make it able to work on everything its a matter of what the Cell companies want to allow.

okay good. That's exactly what I had heard, thanks for the article mike. That makes me less aprehensive about the fascinate over the long haul. Although, I still want a physical keyboard.. I'm glad new smartphones come out every other week nowadays.. sheesh!

I use swype Mike, I'm still getting use to it but it's alot easier than typing, just one finger it..
