Mike, the difference is only worth it if your pay can stay about in the same range...then you can advance...otherwise it's more than likely a lateral move, if that

what's the pay... lol
Starts out at 14.75 an hour plus overtime( and per my buddy that works there, they are getting a good bit of overtime right now)
How big is this cost of living differance.. I sure am tired of winters. Issue is that the dollar amount is less than half of my current pay.... I'd really love to try something else though.

Mike, Huntsville, AL has a huge engineering base from a ton of different defense contractors and the like.. Booz Allen Hamilton, SAIC, Lockheed Martin.. etc. Not to mention the large amount of civilian jobs available on Redstone Arsenal through the government..
are you actually looking at moving out of the NE area too??

At some point. My other half has about a year left in school, and then we are free to go.

I take it you haven't really started looking around at where you'd want to move either have you?

No not yet. With her line of study she should be able to find work in any hospital. I could easily live off 70k a year though...

So could I. I certainly don't get paid enough. Running on 2 hours broken sleep in 24 hours. FML.

Speaking of moving to a different area where the cost of living is lower, I'm glad I did it. My job change was a lateral move financially, but the overall cost of living is 40% lower and the cost of housing is 70% lower. There are a lot of other factors too, but I'm very happy with my decision. I'm much happier at my job right now, even though I have to put in long hours up front to get my territory in order. I'm a lot happier in my new home too, which is much newer, nicer, and a lot bigger than my last place for only a little bit more than my old place.

So was MA. It was expensive and difficult to live there. I hated the area. I'm glad I left.

My wife refuses to leave because of her family, if it were up to me, I'd definitely be elsewhere.
