remove the roof rack when not being used
what a world of difference that does lol. I unfortunately don't have space to keep my rack (besides locked onto the roof of the car), but I've had it off that last week, sitting in the middle of my living room, while I change out the rubber pads it sits on and damn my gas mileage just skyrocketed!

It's probably better to keep it in your trunk when not in use. That's what I would do if I didn't have the room for it in my garage. I know the roof rack doesn't take up much room, but I also know you have a bike rack which I am unsure how big and bulky that can be.

$5 a gallon? Wow, that is crazy! And I thought $3.69 here in Ohio was bad.

damn, that station has San Diego beat. and San Diego was rated to have the highest average gas price in the nation according to an article that released yesterday.

Just like Bobby said, it jumped to about $3.69 here in OH. Prices were as low as $3.18 less than a week ago.

About 2 weeks or so ago, I filled up at $3.95/gal. The other day, I filled up at $4.56/gal; I'm sure the prices have only gone up since then too. These prices are for premium.

Switched back to 87 octane on the last fill up and the first tank was 28 mpgs. Very nice compared to my last three tanks of around 18 mpgs. Pretty much the only thing that sucks about working back in town, but the tanks last 2 weeks longer, so it evens out. lol

I think for the first time ever I made my usual trip from Chicago down to Champaign on cruise control going exactly 65 the whole way down, with A/C on. I ended up getting 40.1 mpg using only a quarter tank, where usually I get around 22 while driving like a mad man. Maybe it's time to slow down...

I might try the speed limit for a week, and see what it does for my wallet. With a difference like that at the current prices I could save a fortune. Basically with those numbers (I know its expanded because of the long highway trip) I could divide my fuel cost in 1/2

I think this is very good mpg. 80%freeway and 20% city, I even have some pulls in there. I drive a V6-6 speed. No engine mods. I shift at 2k-2500 rpm and always use cruise control when I can. This mpg is better than what I got in my 99 accord 4cyl 5 speed which I find is amazing. I could've gone even farther I still had over a gallon left and the gas light didn't even come on yet.

Good lord. Filled up today at $3.85 and got a whopping 18mpg on my last tank. In an i4. What the fuck. My mom's 2012 TL gets better gas mileage than that.
