Are my headlights salvagable?

So my aftermarket Depo blacked-out headlights have been progressively yellowing, which is annoying in itself. But in addition, for a while I've assumed that the cloudy, rough, blotchy surface I'm seeing in certain spots is some bad oxidation, but Rich saw them last week and thinks that it's the clearcoat on the lenses starting to disappear, which kinda seems to make more sense. So my question is, is this clearcoat issue repairable or are the lenses just toast?

You can re-polish the lenses if you want.

Wet sand/clay/repolish it depends on the severity of it. I'm dealing with this myself with a set of headlights. I guess I have to pull them out and re seal them.

Dave Scott provided such a detailed, and perfect answer to your question that I spilt it out of this post, and made it a sticky! It can be viewed here

Do explain.
Actually, Scott gave a pretty detailed answer. Shit, I didn't think it'd be that involved of a procedure. Damn.
