Sponsorships

I've found this topic quite interesting. After doing some google searching, i found a two main different types. One that just seems like a scam, where you pay the company and if you win at shows and such you are "reimbursed", and another where you must advertise with stickers on your car and you get parts. To my understanding there have been people who have successfully modded there cars with lots of sponsorships, and others have been completely screwed over. What are your opinions and experiences with sponsorships?

There is a member here from VA that knows a lot about getting sponsored. His sn is dreman. You should PM him about this, as I am sure he can provide some insight to this topic.

i've heard both sides of the whole sponsorship thing...
one of my friends has a brand new BMW 135i and with his sponsorship they bought and paid for all installation of big joose chip kit (stage 3) added like 120hp, tuning software, they did methonol injection, replaced his intakes, along with a shit load of random bolt ons to help the turbos... pretty sure he just has to go to the track like once a month with a huge sign in his back window... no stickers while not at the track
he pays the payments every month and probably can get alot of help if he had engine problems
on the other side...i almost went into a sponsorship program with like 45 companies involved... with this i could get like 25% off all products for first year, 50% off products for 2nd year, 75 the 3rd year, and supposedly after 3-4 years they can choose to have you a full sponsor. (aem, blankupt, alpine, street glow, etc...) carsponsorships.com is very similiar....
you have to buy all products and submit the difference to the company you bought shit from, you have to do all installations, you are required to have numerous stickers on your car while at your mandatory car show entries.... more like your signing up for a membership which requires you to go to 3-4 car shows a year... take pics proving you were actually there with your decals on etc...
i wouldnt personally want the 2nd situation, but the first one sounds badass....
before that kid got his 135i... he had a mazdaspeed with at least 6-7k spent alone on the engine... and when he was done he parted out, kept the cash, and used that for a down payment on the beamer
look into the specifics and what they require you to do and for how long.... they will always try to have the power in the relationship... in some ways you work for them once you sign... and if you dont do what they say, they will pull your sponsorships
just make sure you know what yur getting yourself into... that lifestyle might be great for you and terrible for others.

CarSponsorships.com is a load of shit. They take a fee from you up front, that you "only" pay if you get "sponsored" by one of the companies (WHICH ALWAYS HAPPENS, ITS USUALLY A BS COMPANY). You have to use parts they tell you too on your car, if you don't they will come after you with lawsuits and demands for money. You have to rock a bunch of crap on YOUR car, whether or not you like it, whether or not it looks good. Also a lot of times you just get a slight discount on parts, not "free shit".
I'm sorry but these companies are all scams whether by the tradional sense of the word or a spin thereof, people who get sponsored properly, are usually heavily involved in the industry, these companies are all in the fine print, read it very carefully, your not just getting something for nothing, you always end up ont he loosing end. Anyone who is taking money to find you a sponsorship is a scam artist, if your car is nice and features a quality build, and you attend shows regularly, you can talk to people from various companies to find out the proper avenues.

i particepated in carsponsorships.com , its ok , but u have to do a lot of leg work, take pictures and go to a lot of show, i recieved a couple of parts from them by doing this but nothing i wanted to install( tripod with gauges, some interior trims and a whole lot of decals, but since im in jersey there isnt that many shows that u can go to , cuz they have to have over 100+ cars , awards need to be given out and u need to whore urself for them , but it all depends on the person. i got tired of it so i stopped doing it last year but it lagit , u just have to do a lot for ur parts...
