Car shows are about vehicles that attract the most attention and have the most crap on the car.  It's not about having quality work done, it's about how much shit you have added to your car.  Don't try and understand it, just realize that a show car doesn't = a quality car.

Probably why I've never entered one until yesterday. I've never driven anything "fancy". Everything I've ever done has been subtle that only someone that knew better could appreciate.

Wow....that 350 is HIDEOUS!!!!  He won?!?!  I think the judges must have been tripping on acid or molly or something.  Not all car shows are bad guys, it just depends on the judges and how many/what classes there are.  I know plenty of shows where they do appreciate good, quality work and clean cars vs. (as Tim said) how much random shit can you throw on your car.
