So my Droid X just got the new Google Maps update... it's pretty awesome. 3D maps + offline caching FTMFW!

What's the opinion on the nexsus s? The review I read on the NY times talks about it being bulky, plastic instead of glass like the iPhone and a bad camera.

My contract is up with AT&T in 3 months. So tired of their shitty service. Just looking at the other smartphones that are out there.

I've been fairly happy with my Samsung Fascinate. It's not perfect, but it's better than any phone I've had in the past 4 years.

Don't trust reviews. Go pick one up and try it for yourself. You get a periord of time in which you can return it.

If you're switching carriers I'd make sure that you have good coverage in your area, especially if you're considering t-mobile or sprint with their "4g" networks.
as far as phones go, mike said it, pick one up and go through all the menus and learn the operating systems and find out what suits you best. Reading reviews is a good idea, but until you have played with the phone yourself, you'll never know what is best for your lifestyle.
I have the Samsung Fascinate (Verizon) like Tim. I love the phone. I love it more ever since I've gained root access and have been toying around with the innerworkings of the operating system. Right now, IMHO, the Fascinate and the Droid Incredible (HTC) are the best two phones on VZW. Mind you they are both full touch screen with no keyboard.
However, they've been trying to unload their stock of phones (with buy one get one free deals and such), which generally means they're trying to free up space for some new "latest and greatest" smartphones. Keep in mind that both of those phones I mentioned above have been out for awhile, and will probably be replaced soon.

It seems like the time a phone is "new" is now only a period of about 90 days. I'm happy with my phone and won't fall into the hype all these companies are creating to generate sales.

I agree with you Tim. My phones turned into my old accord. When I sold it I had nothing to mod anymore.. now I have a cell phone that is completely moddable, and that's where my interests have turned. clearly theres a big difference.. I'm not spending money on parts anymore. haha.

I have the same phone on T-Mobile, and I'm pretty happy. I love the Android OS, and there are only more great things to come from it. This whole smart phone thing is just starting to hear up. As far as reviews I tend to put more stock into consumer reports, and stuff out of non major publications. It's to often that a large news paper/magazine is giving something a sub par review because they are in business with another company. The Media in this country is almost as crooked as the government. It's best to check out these products in person, and most companies give you a period of time in which to do so at no cost (or the prorated cost of the plan your using).

I'm thinking of switching carriers when I get back and was eyeing the motorola i1 on sprint's network. The plans are better and cheaper than what I currently have and I want to get out of iPhone. I'm tired of it especially after the latest update.

Motorola will be a HUGE mistake. All of their products are junk.
