Only way around it is to buy the phones outright. It's not truly limited data though. They usually slow your speeds way down when you cross a threshold. They have a 3gb plan. I just went up to 6gb to be safe. Fuck you Verizon!!

Denny, I would say 1.2gb-1.8gb of data is about average. That's what I use in about a month. My wife uses like 4gb-5gb a month.
Difference between us is that I use wifi a lot and she Doesn't.

Rob and I are getting new phones next week. We're pretty sold on the Samsung Galaxy S4, but it seems when we switch we're going to lose our unlimited data. Is there a way around this? Is it not as much of a big deal anymore because there's wifi everywhere?

Pretty much. Or if you are content with going to tiered data, there is the option of selling your unlimited plans.

Proof? I don't think I've seen anyone prove that VZW throttles folks on unlimited plans after a certain number of GB.

Idk why people think companies like Tmobile, Sprint and all these other little companies actually give 'Unlimited data'.
Yeah, it's 'Unlimited' because they won't charge you overages but once you hit around 2gb, they slow your speed down. I'm not just talking shit out of my ass, look it up. People fell in love with this 'Unlimited' word yet they really don't even utilize it.
Denny, only way around it is either buying the phones at full retail price or buying them on ebay and calling verizon to activate the phones for you. Look up their Share Everything plans and see what works for you.
Mark, it is true. I used to work for Verizon and if you had a 3G smartphone with unlimited data and went past 2gb, you were throttled. There was a feature automatically put on your line until the end of the cycle. No one could remove it. I had an issue like this bc a guy called like 20times in one day saying he was being slowed down and to remove the feature yet it wasnt possible. The way to end that issue was to get a 4G LTE phone.

Fair enough. Thanks for the info Ariel.. I was referring to not hearing about folks being throttled with LTE..
I've had an LTE enabled phone for so long that I made the assumption that 3G would not be a discussion topic.. Lol..

I've been throttled tons of times with AT&T. They all do it. I'm looking at saving money with a switch to tmo. Average of about $70 a month saved when I do switch. Fuck big red and big blue.

^Yeah, that's what people say. It's not fiction, it's out there in their contract.
I had a friend who had Sprint, avged about 300gb a month. Sprint called him and said they couldn't afford him om their network anymore, paid for his early termination fees. Ask him to go to a carrier like Verizon or AT&T.

I don't have a contract sir... You really think you understand everything about everyone's situation don't you? I know its out there what you fail to see is that it doesn't apply to everyone on every carrier.

Second what Mike said. T-Mobile no longer has contracts. Just about every carrier throttles once you hit a certain cap except for t-mo. For LTE users to get the throttling, it usually occurs at 5gb. For 3G, its about 2gb. Possibly more.
Here's some reading to back up what I'm saying regarding t-mo's "no contract/ ETF payoff/ fuck you vzw and att" (sprint isn't included since they suck balls):
http://www.ibtimes.com/t-mobile-uncarrier-40-plan-how-can-john-legeres-company-afford-cover-early-termination-fees-1534044
If you need more info, look up "t-mobile uncarrier". Its been in place for a few years from what I understand.
