haven't played forza in a while (friend thinks i'm cursed with it).... got back from class one day and started playing while friend was doing something before we left again. SOMEHOW the damn xbox froze and threw the e74 error; almost exactly a week after the warranty expired. fixed it. then started doing it again. he eventually bought the red elite xbox (i have to buy him a game or something since i was guilty by association haha).


if anyone has an old school dvdrom from an xbox lmk...

It's a 360 right? If so the DVD drives are a bitch to changed, and may not even be worth it. the drives usually run 80 bucks, and then you have to reflash it. It's almost cheaper to buy a used console with a warranty.

yeah i've been looking everywhere for a flashed drive.


i think the best i can probably do is just find someone with a broken xbox with the same gen. drive and gut that one.

Unfortunatly it doesn't work that way Each drive is locked to the mother board via a lock code which is embedded in the software. If the drive falure is mechanical you can take the board from the old DVD drive, and put it in the new one and your all set but, if its a software issue you will either have to have some one reflash the new drive to match the mother board, or send it to microsoft for repair ($119).

Has anyone beat ODST yet? Does the $60 price tag warrant the game? I used to be a die-hard Halo 3 fan, but now those days are gone, because it just started becoming the same repetitive boring stuff.

I'm about half way through it, and I like it so far. The camaign mode is tough to describe its different but, the same. Your still fighting against the same enemies but, your searching for pieces to solve a "mystery". I guess is the best way to put it. The multiplayer is pretty cool it's basically a fire fight like one of the modes in Gears 2. You get scored while facing waves of opposition

On a slightly related note, I just finished modding my 360 controller. I took the black dpad and thumbsticks from the original Xbox controller and swapped them with the gray ones in the 360 controller. The contrast looks pretty nice.

I beat the Campaign on Regular Difficulty last night, and I made it to leval 25 in multiplayer where are you guys at in the game. I'm going to go back through, and beat the campaign in hardened now. Also has anyone else played any of the special OP's missions?

the campaign on regular makes it seem really really short, atleast to me. ive been getting on late at night [PST] since i work evenings. as for the special ops, i havent really gotten into it yet

I added you too, Z. Unfortunately I still don't have MW2; the most recent game I have is ODST, and TBH, it sucks. I used to be a big Halo fan, but now it's all gotten boring to me. I do have Gears of War 1 CoD4, and CoD: World at War, though.

You money will be best spent playing some of the Classic 360 games at first Z. Things like NFS Most Wanted, Edler Scrolls, Assians Creed and the list goes on and on are all great games the you can probably pick up for $25. I would suggest Gamefly.com as a cost effective way to play a shit ton of games.

I loved Elder Scrolls but, to complete it is north of 100 hours of game play.

GTA4 is a fun game. The free play in it can get intense when you're just screwing around with a bunch of friends. Crackdown is also pretty fun.

GTA 4 is fun. My Dad even likes to play that. He holds the record for the longest constant game play, 6 hours. I think the free play is almost as fun if not more fun than the campaign.

Just picked up Left for Dead 4, Assassin's Creed, and Gears of War 2. This should be fun.

Anyone still play on xbox live? I just got my xbox hooked up to high speed and trying to find new people to play against/with.

Unfortunately I haven't had the cash to renew my XBL. I really want to get Reach, but if I want to play it again, it'll be $60 for the game, then another $50 something for a 13 month card.

Has anyone gotten the email about Microsoft's new fees for XBL? It's another $10 for each tier of XBL. Fucking sucks.

Just buy it now before the price goes up. You can renew for more than one year. They should charge alot there is no other online gaming service close.

I might hop back into Black Ops tonight. Haven't played it in a really long time, and I'm sure there is a ton of rust. I was never very good but it was fun. I've been hooked on Civilization Revolution again of late.

The new maps on Black Ops are great AND last night I noticed they put up some teaser trailers for... CALL OF DUTY: MODERN WARFARE 3!!!!  Im so excited!  I like Black Ops, but the Infinity Ward campaigns are just SO much better than Treyarchs. :)

So I went to Kohl's with my Gf the other day, she was lookin for clothes, I was lookin for new shoes for work.  So she got a couple shirts and I didn't find any shoes.  As I'm walkin out I see the video game rack they have by the register, so I walk up and they have the James Bond Quantom of Solace game for $15!  So I bought it.  I remember seein the game when it came out but never really hearin much about it, good OR bad.  The game is great!  Its basically the whole movie of Quantom of Solace (mainly what didn't happen in the movie, really kinda cool what they did) and there are huge flashbacks to Casino Royale.  Seriously a good game and def worth checkin out.

Side Note:  It was made by Treyarch (COD: WAW and BO), I had no idea!

You know its funny.  I absolutely LOVED Dirt (1) I thought the graphics were awesome and the crossover tracks were really cool, but then I played Dirt 2 and I just couldn't swing it.  Somethin about the graphics, I just couldn't get a handle on the car.  I can't wait for Forza 4.  I've gotten as far as I can get in F3 and its killin me, cause I can't buy any more cars or anything... :(  But runnin Nordschlief in my 1100 hp R34 GT-R never gets old! :D

You can get the disk out. Take the face plate off and stick a paper clip in the little hole the drive will open a little bit then you can pull the tray manually. Sounds like your power supply took a shit.

Pre-ordered MW3 and Elite yesterday!  Can't wait!  Its gonna be crazy.  They are releasing a new map pack EVERY MONTH for 9 months!  Its gonna be crazy.

Why would you be excited about that. That is a specific reason I might not buy the game at all. If they can put one out every month that means the content is already available to them, and why not put it on the disk. Games are getting to the point where the on line add ins are causing companys to leave shit out of the original so that they can sell it to you later and make more money. Good for the industry but, awful as a consumer. So basically they have you on the hook for $60 upfront and $10 a month. You may as well pay a fucking subscription fee.  :ranton:

I ordered the game, that was $60.  The elite subscription is another $50 and with buying that you get ALL of the DLC FO FREE.  Oh and my lil bro is payin for the Elite subscription as a late bday present :D

If you think about it, the Elite is actually a great deal and DEF the best way to do it.  You get to do all this extra stuff and get the map packs too.  Even if your just in it for the map packs, do the math.

I'd say if you don't get Elite and buy them when they come out your lookin at at least $15 each, times 9 months comes out to $135, or you can SAVE $85 and buy the Elite subscription for $50 and get it all "free"

AND most COD game have only come out with what 4 map packs? so maybe 15 more maps?  This is 9! so thats like 30-40 new maps.  I think thats pretty Bad ass.  Plus with the Elite subscription I can get an app for my phone to change my classes when I'm at work... why I would want to do that I HAVE NO IDEA... but I could. haha

Yeah, I don't really buy many games.  But when I go I get kick ass deals.  When MW2 came out EB was havin a buy 2 used get one free sale.  I found MW2, Gears 2 and some other game that had just came out on the used wall (MW2 was actually still in the box to go up on the wall, I had the dude diggin for it haha).  But I ended up gettin three used games, all of which were no more than a few weeks old for under $100.  That's pretty much the only time I buy em.  I'm gonna have to trade some in soon tho, too much comin out.  Gotta get Forza 4, Batman: Arkham Island, and Gears 3.  Although I think GF is gettin Gears for me.

Anybody else play racing games with the wheel/pedals I bought one a year ago and I refuse to play "sim" racers such as forza without it haha my friends and I made a little jig for it and used the drivers seat from my old Plymouth laser

Forza 4 has Kinect capabilities so you dont even need a controller/wheel... just hands, just like Wii but without the controller. haha  But I don't think I'll use it, I HATE doing realistic racing games with the Wii style, I'd much rather use a controller.  Although the head tracking does seem awesome.  If you look to the left the driver will look out the drivers side window.  Pretty coo right?  Wrong!  Really cool!

The 7th Gen V6 coupe WAS in Forza 2.  It was SAWEEET!  But no forced induction options...  It'd be cool as hell if they atleast put the 8th Gen coupe in.  And HELL YEAH I'd use it, itd be sweet to customize MY CAR with no limitations haha.

Battlefield 3 is Epic! So much win I played it last night, it's got a single player disc, multiplayer disc and if you want even better HD graphics there is a free 1.5 gig DL for it (do it it's worth it) you can blind people with lasersights and flashlights and the engineer has like 100000 rockets. I love it

MW3 has to be better then BF3's lol I beat it in 5-6 hours :p it was stupid easy even on normal (I'll go through and beat it on hard someday) the only reason I died once was I got cocky and kept rushing the enemies :p

I'm going and buying a headset pretty soon just so I can yell at people :p so frustrating when your whole team turns out to be touched in the head lol . Playing rush as attackers half my team are snipers and the rest were flying around dogfighting  FML it's called rush for a reason!

I literally pulled out every trick in the book to keep my team in the game :p I destroyed 5 MCom stations myself, I was taking Tanks blocking off a door and covering the other, halo jumping from helicopters, ended up twice we were down to less then 10 tickets and I saved us. 54 kills 24 deaths last point armed 3 seconds left and my team shits the bed and dies :p came out with 10,xxx points MVP closest behind me was 5,xxx lol

But no one else even likes that game

Meh! IMO Both games are good at what they do. MW3 is arcade like, (with killstreaks and powerups etc) lone wolf style game (even with the addition of kill confirmed.) BF3 is more simulation like, with the bullet physics, destructible buildings, and heavy emphasis on teamwork. I prefer the latter in my FPS that's all instead of listening to that 12 year old in Nebraska yelling "ZomG! Watch me quick scope!!" LoL!

Edit:  Mike, thanks for the idea about getting the gold subscriptions off of ebay.  I just purchased a 12 month for $46.00.

So thru a failure in communication, I got a xmas present early.  Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary!  Its pretty sweet, they just revamped the graphics on the original game and its sick.  One REALLY cool feature is that if you hit the back button while your playing, the graphics willl revert back to the original game so you actually see how much they changed it, and it is a HUGE difference.  Another really cool thing is that it is Kinect enabled, so you can sort of talk to Cortana.  There are keywords that you can say that will change the HUD and let you analyze stuff.  I have no idea what I'm doin with it yet tho. haha

Traded in the games and got Arkham City on Saturday.  Wow.  This game is amazing!  Had a little hiccup Sat night tho, went to play on Sunday mornin and my game save wasnt there... FML haha.  Also, didnt get quite as much as I hoped for on the trade-ins (Forza 3, COD: Black Ops and Homefront) but whatever, no big deal.  So This should hold me over til Xmas when I get AC: Revelations and Rocksmith. :D

I got Halo: CE Anniversary and its cool because you can actually download the original maps to your xbox so you can play them with Reach and not have to worry about a seperate disc and all.  Pretty cool.

I've seen that, looks cool.  who doesn't love the original Halo??  They are using the same game engine for the remake as they used for Reach, so that's why they can use the same maps.  I miss playing online.. :(  I really need that gold membership.

Lmao! Skyrim is Epic but I think a glitch just happened to me I was wandering around a big field when a dragon started circling above I'm like awww ya dragon fight! Nobody else around dragon has full health suddenly it clips a mountain falls to the ground and died at my feet...WTF? I still get credit for the kill, win?

Ya the disc hasn't left the xbox yet :D I fought two dragons back to back yesterday used the animal allegiance shout had 2 wolfs, a bear, and 3 goats helping me attack the dragons lol

Ugh im getting owned by a blood dragon ATM level 22 (jack of most trades build) my biggest mistake :/ Ignoring the main quest haven't even visited the greybeards yet but I am arch mage (although a glitch deff helped me out for like 5 hours I could use magic without magika draining at all lol the bar wouldn't even come on screen) :D

Thats the last quest I did in the main story... I wanted to go through the guild stuff first.

This is how I play the game to aha I play all games like that mostly I say fuck the main quests and do all the side missions first or go the opposite way of the objective 99% of the time you find great stuff or your uber powerful when you start the main quest

just prestiged on mw3. 1st prestige. i went from level 1-22 in about an hour last night LOL

I have to admit I like the new layout. It's not as sluggish either.

I set my laptop up for The Exchanger or whatever, where you can get stuff off your laptop (music, pictures, videos) and have it on your xbox... I immediately turned it off.  It so laggy, its terrible.  AND I dont use Windows Media Player, the majority of my music and stuff is in iTunes, so I can barely play any of it anyway. 

I also like the new layout.

You can't expect Mircosoft to design something that is I tunes friendly. Mine is not laggy at all maybe its a network thing?

And yeah, terrible wireless connection.  For some reason, my room works perfectly fine, but my brothers room, which is another 10 ft farther than my room from the router, gets absolutely NO wireless reception.  So hes gonna get a signal repeater or whatever when he graduates and comes home.

Try upgrading to Wireless N... Xbox runs alot better on 5GHz

One thing you could do if you don't want to shell out the $55 for the 360 wireless N adapter is plug it into a laptop that supports N, and share its connection. (Provided that you have an N router)

That's what I did for awhile with my desktop. I had a 75 foot cat6 cable run around my room to my 360 so that it could get a better connection. Wireless G is just downright terrible lol.

Your right it does have "N" but, does not support dual band so you can only connect at 2.4 GhZ. With the N wireless adapter you and connect to a 5GhZ network. So technically it's N but, you can't connect to the N band so its useless.

5ghz isn't necessarily only meant for N band, it's just based on the fact that there is significantly less interference.

Just be careful though. 5ghz doesn't have the range that 2.4ghz has, so if your xbox is very far away from the router, it may be better to stick with 2.4ghz.

I've been wanting to try out 5ghz, but I don't have the cash to shell out for a router and new adapter.

I just used a 2ft cable for mine lol the modem is pretty much right next to the xbox and I never get lag (except if I'm connecting to like Australia or something) FiberOP FTW!

I was kind of upset when I bought it and tried to connect to my 5 GhZ band, and it wouldn't.... Fuckers

LMAO! Well since my old skyrim save got deleted (RIP Fraggletooth lol) I started a new one and went and did a few more quests then I did before for the main storyline. Glad I did aha fully upgraded Unrelenting Force. Nothing like hurling six trolls off the side of a mountain :D lol I don't even use my other shouts anymore so much easier now.

Just beat AC: Revelations yesterday. Awesome game!  But another god damn cliff hanger so I'll be buying the next one when it comes out... lol

On the topic of skyrim does anybody else use the "seam walk/jump button mash" technique to climb mountains etc? I do it a lot aha you can get to some interesting places and make some crazy stuff happen. I've fallen inside of mountains, got by a certain barrier on a certain tall mountain (sort of) aha as soon as I touched the path after the barrier my guy started shaking violently then I got flung like 26484837363 miles in the air and halfway across skyrim :D died on impact almost landed on a bear aha

You can also walk down very steep cliffs by holding the direction towrd the face of the object.

Does anyone own the Guitar Hero World Tour drumset? I'm absolutely appalled by the quality of the wiring. The wires for the cymbals and foot pedal literally crumbled into pieces. Ahhhhh guitar hero and rockband drum sets I remember those things. I know how you feel man I went out and bought the goodwood kit for the guitar hero and an actual electronic drum set for rockband. Got tired of missing notes I knew I hit and shit falling apart , and no I didn't spend all that money for nothing I used them to learn how to play real drums. Sold it all though...still have 5gigs of DLC songs on my external HD for the games though aha

So... I turned on my Xbox 360 Slim last night and its making this whirring noise...  It sounds like something is spinning, but it is having trouble spinning it and it revs (the noise goes up and then slows down and repeats) it does this for a while before finally just stopping.  I have no idea what it is, but the xbox seems to function fine.  Maybe its the fan?  But it doesnt have any rings or anything lighting up.  Anybody else have this problem or hear about it?  Thanks.

Its the fan... Mine does it once and a while to... It will do it if you leave a controller plug in charging, and shut off your xbox... Thats how i'm pretty damn sure its the fans.

Ya sounds like a fan, probably needs a good cleaning. I have my xbox sitting on one of those laptop coolers and I have two extra fans on the outside cooling it as well. Xboxs hate heat and dirt.

Yeah, Ive heard the fans stay on before, but not like this.  Like I said the RPMs fluctuate and then just kinda die down... like its havin trouble running them.

If I am not mistaken it is supposed to be like the old ones. The only downfall is that it is platform specific. That is awesome about the Tony Hawk games though. I hope they have all the cheat codes haha

Played some minecraft yesterday with a couple of the guys on here it was pretty fun...My underwater house turned into a strip mine though lol but it was deff a good laugh.

Can one of you take the time to explain this game to me. I looked at the demo but not sure I like it. Seems a lot of people love it so what's the deal?

It's alot of fun to play with a group of friends and see what you can build. You can say screw building and go mining and exploring for dungeons or build a portal and battle in hell (the nether) We played for a couple hours and had a couple farms and a small community going. Plus the random creeper explosions always keep things lively. You have to play with friends to get the full experience plus they will be constantly updating so you can play adventure maps, puzzle maps and even use mods like tekkit (think full blown oils drilling, fuel refineries, automated quarries/farms to full blown nuclear reactors.)

Ive gotten addicted to the Gun Play on MW3 (One in the chamber, 18 gun and all or nothing). I cant stop playin, im levelin up like crazy. Lol

I've only had minecraft for a couple of days, and yes im addicted already!.. :laugh:

Anybody have any experience with networking ?

Im having a problem connectecting both of my xbox360s to the same modem.
Xbox(1) = wired
xbox(2) = wireless

Right now I have it set up like this.
Modem > switch > xbox(1)
Switch > router (xbox(2))

And I notice that everytime I reset everything one of the connections work. So if the wired is working the router isn't working and vice versa.

I think the router should be where the switch is, and vice versa. Without knowing exactly what devices you're using, it's hard to tell. But generally you want the router hooked to the modem, then have the switch hooked to the router.

It worked like that too but I didn't wanna keep it dint there because the router would be too far from the rest of the house.

You might want to forward/open some ports on your router to enhance the connection to xbox live.

Started playing this minecraft it's pretty interesting. Is there an end point when you start "a new world".

Not yet, they started coding the xbox version from approximately version 1.6.6 on the PC. So a lot of features aren't implemented yet. Such as Pistons, various blocks, enemies, strongholds (randomly generated enemy castle which holds the portal to the end where you fight the dragon) and testificates (Friendly NPCs with randomly spawning villages) they will slowly patch up to current versions and slowly implement mod and adventure map compatibility. So right now the only objective is to build and have fun.

You can build some pretty amazing things. Like one guy built a fully functional computer complete with memory and RAM out of redstone it could do calculations and even save images/patterns on a screen he made. (YouTube redstone computer *mindboom*)

Only problem I really have with it is that its only on four maps... Itd be a lot better if they opened it up to more.

I bought a product called "modsticks pro" and installed them into one of my controllers last week. What an amazing product. Don’t let the name fool you in no way to they allow you to cheat but, basically there are machined aluminum thumb sticks. I bought them to see if they would bring back the tightness to my controller because I usually through them away when they get sloppy. It did this and more. The thumb sticks are a little taller which increases your rage of motion a little bit. To put it simply I’ll probably never use a controller with out them again!

My brother got a set of those stick extenders.

Not the same assuming your talking about SPS Freak or something like that which just snaps over the thumb sticks. These actually replace the base inside the controller with and aluminum one, and the thumb sticks screw on. They include spacers so that you can use them at different heights to. I find that the issue with controllers feeling worn is often that the plastic dome inside the controler becomes worn and then it gets sloppy and loose. I'm assuming that the aluminum ones won't wear down nearly as fast, and they are cheaper than a new controller.

Oh yeah, his are just the snap on jobs.

He also got some crazy controller with a changing D pad.  It can be a full circle, or you can twist it and the corners slide down to make it just the cross of the D pad.

Yeah I have one of those. Its the new MS design. I haven't really found much use for that yet though?

New annoyance with Kinect,  honestly I love it.  It really is awesome, but it works with Netflix (voice/hand commands)... But not when watching a DVD... what the fuck?  Was it that hard to add it for DVD? lol  I realize it sounds like a silly rant, but they are practically the same thing.

Also, I got Goldeneye Reloaded the other day and its pretty good.  Cool twist on the Goldeneye story, updated and more with current events.  I would be pissed if I was Pierce Brosnan, how they redid the story and replaced him with the new Bond, but its still good and def worth playin.

Haha thanks man. I'm kind of addicted to this game :p I just recently built a mini game to play with the new update. It's a giant beer pong table. You use the new ender pearls to play (balls you throw and it teleports you to where it lands) you toss them at cups I built and when you land inside it retracts the cup into the game board via a pressure plate and pistons lol.

I could learn a lot from you all I'm still just digging holes. No moving objects etc.

I played the Demo for Forza Horizon last night... Idk, I have mixed feelings.  The graphics look great and the concept is cool (the map is huge).  That said, its pretty much a cross between Forza and NFS: Underground... def a little bit more arcade and less simulation.  I'll have to get the real game and see how the customization is.  Im not sold on the handling either, it doesnt have the same tight feel it did in the other Forza games.

its pretty fun. Graphically it blows but it is what it is. Basically you dig holes, make tools and build shit out of the blocks you mine.

I Could host if you guys want, if I'm not playing Minecraft I'm usually watching videos on YouTube. Although when halo 4 and the new assassins creed comes out I might be on Minecraft a little less often.

Edit: I'm building a map in Minecraft. PVP objective map with individual spawn rooms, beds in each where players sleep before starting, select a class
 Knight: Chain Helmet, Chain Chest, Iron Sword
 Theif: Stone Sword, Leather Chest, Bow and arrows
Noble:Gold Sword, Gold Helmet, Bow and arrow
The Tank: Iron Chest, Iron Leggings, Stone Sword

  then you go fight. There are two bases identical to each other with 5 redstone torchs in each one.

 The objective is to knock out all the enemies torchs. Each torch has it's own challenges, one is a parkour challenge up a broken tower, another has you shoot minecarts in the castle wall to reveal the torch, another is protected by hostile mobs in a dark room ect... Knocking out a torch causes multiple things to happen, bonuses for your team such as adding lava to the parkour in your base etc... It also swaps a green wool with a red wool in a health bar above each base showing which torchs are left. When all the torchs are gone it causes TNT to blow up the losing teams base.

I will need some beta testers if any of you are interested. I'm having a great time building this map. I learned so much about using redstone using AND Gates, RS-NOR latch arrays, pulse shortners etc.

@Mike ya it's very time consuming though...it takes about a 1/2 hour just to build and wire up each spawn room (I'm building 8 of them) plus the actual play area is 100 wide x 150 blocks long going from ground level to sky-limit.

Honestly it will probably be another 2 weeks before I'm done ahaha

Just watched the teaser for Halo on Xbox One.  Awesome.  I hate that I'm watching all these videos now and have to wait 6 months... lol

You guys realize that the Xbox One has to "phone home" to Microsoft every 24 hours, otherwise you can't play any games, right?

Also, there is now a fee to lend your friend a game. So no more used games for the Xbox.

Thats why am stinking  to sony i was planing on going back to xbox but all this phone home talk and game licensing like its never really yours is too much of a headache right now  :-[  although i do like the game previews and specs

The having to "phone home" doesn't bother me.  I mean its kinda weird... but its a non issue, not like my 360 isn't hooked up to the internet at all times.

As for the used games, well cross that bridge when we get to it.

Used games are bad for the industry, and effect the product. Why should gamestop be making all the money off the secondary market? What do they do? Do they contribute to the game in any way. Steam proved that this concept is the future of gaming. Sony is going to end up there to. Once the game companies start getting hands on the multi billion dollars from no used content they are going to shy away from the Sony platform until they conform. It's evolution of an industry.

So far I am really liking this system.  I just walk in the room, say "Xbox On" and my TV, Receiver, Cable box and Xbox turn on and I am automatically signed in.

I got Forza and COD and the graphics are impressive on both.  The new controllers are really cool too.  They put rumble packs in the triggers, gives a hold new feel to braking and gun recoil.

Needed to switch it up a bit from Call of Duty so I picked up Forza again.  I forgot how addicting this game can be, and how "one more race" can easily turn into 5 more.

Also two funny things that I noticed with the upgrades:
A. You can J swap a 9th gen Civic.
B. You can put a Chevy 350 into practically anything.

Im still loving the One, but it seems like they rushed the release... there still isn't much for games, theres quite a bit of promise for them but their still a few months out (Tom Clancy The Division, Halo).  Watch Dogs looks alright, I might get that when it comes out.  After watching the video for Destiny, I have no interest.  It just looks like Halo but more unrealistic.  

Im just a little trigger shy after I bought Thief, it was a pretty big disappointment, and glitchy as fuck.  Not sure if thats because I downloaded it instead of buying the physical disc.
