I figured it was about time for me to make one of these since there really doesn't seem to be a option out there. I stratched it out to put the filter into the opening for the stock air box so it will still draw mostly cold air. Welded in and threaded a bung for the Intake Temp Sensor and am using silicon couplers and stinless T-Bolt clamps. It also has a 1/2" port in the bottom for the breater line. It is 3" diameter and currently I am using a K&N RE-0930 cone filter alothough pretty much any 3" cone could be used. What do you guys think?

Nice work as usuall, and maybe a very good cost effective options. Seems most intakes for the J30's are really expensive.

Sounds like a AEM V1

As far as cost I was looking at $100 for the pipe, hardware (Including coupling anf clamps), the filters are avalible many places including Advance Auto Parts, the K&N is $40 from them. And for $25 I would powder coat it.

Nice job Paul, I was always curious about this because non of the major manufactures carry a short ram for the J series. I only saw the non brand ones on ebay.

No, it is new 3" intercooler piping.

If I'm not mistaken, I thought these intakes are not good for the car because they bring in hot/warmer air from the engine bay than the cooler air that is in the bumper. Warmer air is less dense than colder air so it has less O2 in it, thus less power.

That's whay I have the filter on the other side of the battery, as long as you are moving forward you will be getting cold air up thru where the stock air box normally goes.

Nice, this might be my next upgrade and I could probably get mine pipe red anodized from the place that my company uses.

Well materials for the first batch of 12 will be here late next week, only 3 are not spoken for.

Here is the support bracket as suggeted. There is a vibration mount on the bottom that screws into the threaded hole in battery tray and the other end of the bracket bolts into a threaded bung in the SRI pipe.

I should have recieved the materials yesterday to make the rest of these but thanks to the intelligence of the FedEx driver that felt it was ok to just leave the box at my front door at 10:31PM last night (according to the tracking) without even ringing the door bell it is now unknown exactly where the package is, will keep you guys updated......

that driver must have been smoking some good crack!

I got a  strange question... Why does it have the intake temp sensor?  What year was this made for?  My '04 6-6 doesn't have the intake temp sensor... the K&N just had the port to connect the line to the valve cover...

Don't mean to revive a year old thread but I'm VERY interested in this SRI... it's exactly what I'm looking to get for my V6. Paul, are you still making these by any chance? and how much would shipping to Canada cost? Thanks!

Just make one yourself. It is actually pretty simple, it just wont have the relocated AIT bung and the nice mounting hardware. I think someone dyno'd using a 4 inch intake they made and it made more power than an AEM V2. Here are two different threads about it:

If you want a name brand intake, look for the K&N Typhoon CAI/SRI on ebay.  It converts to either style in just a few minutes.  I keep it as a SRI myself.  Sounds great and looks nice in the engine bay.  

Thanks for all the feed back guys. Problem is, in Canada we pay up the wazoo for performance parts... it's brutal. The custom intake is the only cost-effective way to do it. I've found some 3" piping that I might just buy and mod myself to make it work. The 4" is very tempting but relocating the battery, or swapping for smaller, is not something I'm thinking of doing so it looks like 3" is the largest diameter I can do.

If anyone wants to sell their intakes, let me know!  :thumbsup:

agreed...power differences from a SRI and CAI are apparently based on piping bringing in colder Air

i made mine out of an old CAI Injen piping from a different ride and put some air ducts to bring in colder air
