Saw Alex down there selling his HID kits. Show was completely outside, including stunt bike and drift competition. Never saw the bikes doing anything, but watched most of the drift competition. Watch 10 cars get reduced down to about 6 after 1 blew a motor (rotory RX7) and 3 crash out to the point they could not drive them any longer. Two were Nissan 240's and one was a Nissan 350z. The 350 did some major damage to the front end after it slammed itself head on into one of the barricades. Another 350 lost it in one of the turns and slammed the rear end. He came back to the pit area and basically removed his entire rear bumper, support, etc so he could continue. I personally think the guy in the primer gray old school Toyota had the most control and did the best.

Anyway, it was fun to watch and got a lot of it on video. The cars at Tampa were alright. Seriously, not many that I was like blown away by. I could seriously enter in my Accord and have the cleanest engine bay there. I might not have 18 video screens and everything wrapped in carbon fiber, but I feel that my car is done simple and elegant compared to some of the riced out cars there. Some cars were there dirty and with dents and rips in the interior. I was really surprised how poorly some of the cars represented at the event.

It was pretty big, but I feel like I way over paid for entrance to what was just an okay time. $3 for bottle water, $4 for soda, $6 for lemonade. You'd think they already raped you on the entrance they would give a little on the refreshment pricing.

Whatever, it is not like you get a chance to go to these events all the time. I am still glad I went. Pictures to come tomorrow.

Not knocking on you for going, Scott, but I refuse to pay any money to see rice.  For every well done car at a car show, there are 10,000 RICERS vying for that def jam gangsta spot.  I don't pay money to see that crap because I can see it for free at the Tuesday night meets I attend on occasion.  I kinda wish they made giant poison traps for ricers like those ant baiters....the ricers enter, get some super cool work done on their cars, they go home, and then the next morning their cars are mysteriously DEAD.

At least you got to see some drifting and a little bit of carnage.  I went to HIN a few years ago and was also underwhelmed.  My car is in pretty poor shape right now, but I'm sure I could win some BS trophy if I entered my car.  I agree that the quality of the cars there are not really "show" quality.

Cool pics Scott.  It's about what I expected to see at a show like that.  Too flashy for my taste.  I have to agree about the Accord, it's been molested.  I did like that S2K with the ITB's though.

The pictures of the cops were after two idiots were street racing right by the event. What a bunch of morons. There were like 8 cops that started chasing them... LOL

Yeah it's pretty f*ckin dumb to start street racing outside of a car show...some of these idiots should seriously be presented with Darwin awards...
