Reverse lock out.  I don't think it's connected any more though.

I love the way it looks, im def. cuttin mine down maybe this weekend, the only thing is it looks like its almost too low, like you have to reach down in to get to the shift knob.  Around how much lower is it compared to the stock shifter assembly, assumin that the mugen one is 1 inch lower

The shifting isn't all that different in comparison to a comptech kit.  The better thing now is that I'm saving my synchros since the effort is on my end not the tranny's.

It's not difficult at all to reach.  It was a bit weird not to have it sitting as high, but it feels WONDERFUL to shift.  Resting my hand on the shifter from the different angle also changes things up a bit.

Yeah it does seem a little short from the pics but it's just about as high as the S2K CR knob sits...maybe a touch lower.  

Oh yeah...the knob literally cannot go down any more, Infumous, lol.

Yes, Tim is right, the red button of doom was once my reverse lockout solenoid trigger...but I got tired of manually switching it on and off....so I disconnected it....too lazy to buy a replacement trim panel since I don't want the gaping hole in there...I also still have to get around to wiring up my reverse lockout solenoid to my brake switch...then I can actually have a working 5th to 6th gate...need motivation....

Milan, the effort isn't that bad.  Yeah it's a little more effort than I'm used to, but having it look this way and having a spherical knob makes overhand shifting so much more comfortable.

I used to like shiftknobs that encouraged "thumbs up" grip shifting, but they were uncomfortable for me since I'm more of an overhand shifter.  I prefer overhand to thumbs up.

I would love to take up the slack in the boot, but it's tapered so I can't stretch or cut it without rendering it useless.  I may find a solution to this using the TSX boot that I have on there, or I may actually pony up the $60 for the CR shift boot....don't know about it though because who knows if it'll fit even with modification...

Slammedk24 - It's not really a pain to reach down, more of an adventure  The mugen short shift kit places the lever 1" below what the standard shifter is at, and Angry Spic probably took off 1.5" from that, so figure 2.5" total?

for $60 (or less) you should check out some of the shops that do custom interiors. Most of them could fab up a nice shift boot in whatever material/color/size you want

yeah my shift boot is torn up from previous owner so im wanting to get a new one and I found a site that makes exact fit boot for our cars for 45 dollars and are made out nice leather.  You can pick the color, and color of stiching

love the short shifter - it makes it ridiculously fun to drive, but height is a bit too low IMO.  to each their own.  have fun with it!
