was thinking of selling my rims, decided to keep em and just polish the lips. well the clear coat on them were dull so its time for some shine. did two rims yesterday for about an hour or two each. simple materials i purchased off wal-mart.

1. 250 sand paper - to remove clear coat.
2. 400 sand paper - wet sand to lessen scrapes made by coarse sand paper.
3. 1000 sand paper - wet to really fine.
4. mothers power ball - for aluminum power metal application.
5. mothers aluminum power metal - not really necessary but i had it in the cabinet.
6. mothers mag & aluminum polish - to have a nice & clear polish finish.
7. terrycloth towel - use to apply the mag and alum polish.
8. microfiber towel - to wipe out the mag & alum polish.

after:

well just bought a dremel, ima try it out for the area where the bolts are. it was a pain coz of the small space, my fingers are killing me.

Good results.  You should talk to skizot about this too.  He's a wealth of knowledge when it comes to polishing metal.

Jowell if you didn't open the cordless dremmel don't. I have the same one, and I hate it!!!! The corded ones work a million times better IMO. You work looks awesome though good job.

Ayos Jowell! The clearcoat on all 4 of my wheels is diminished so something like this would be a great start to bring my rims back to life. thanks for the write up.
