that's interesting that you mention the wear... S.drives are rated 300 while G-forces are rated 340.  Reading Tire-Rack's reviews, they are rated better than the G-forces, but the number of people who reviewed G-forces is 4x greater than the number of people who reviewed the S.drives.  I'll take these into consideration...perhaps I need to expand my tire horizons.

The S-Drive hasn't been out as long as the G-Force hence the difference in review numbers. And tread wear numbers aren't completely standardized among manufacturers

"When looking at UTQG ratings it is important to realize that the Department of Transportation does not conduct the tests. The grades are assigned by the tire manufacturers based on their test results or those conducted by an independent testing company they have hired. The NHTSA has the right to inspect the tire manufacturer's data and can fine them if inconsistencies are found. While most new tire lines have their grades established when they are introduced, they are allowed a 6-month grace period to allow the tire manufacturer to test actual production tires. Once a grade is assigned it must be branded on the tire's upper sidewall and printed on its label.

Unfortunately, the rating that is of the most interest to consumers is the one that appears to be the least consistent. While the Treadwear Grade was originally intended to be assigned purely scientifically, it has also become a marketing tool used by manufacturers to help position and promote their tires."

Does anyone have any experience with the Michelin Energy MXV4 S8's?

I bought a set from a guy for $90 each with about 500 miles on them i think and I just want to know if anyone has used them before

As much as I like BFG tires, Falkens are growing on me at a ridiculous pace. Running Azenis ST-115s on my 19" Uberblades and they are downright amazing. Wear like Iron and stick like a dream for a 360AA tire, much like the ZE-912s. I will be getting ZE912s for my TLs because they weigh less and are not directional, but I will be replacing my uberwide tires with Falkens when they wear out, period. These tires have an uber rim lip protector that I like too.

Well..they're only slightly different in tread design from the standard Energy tires that come standard with some of the accords.  I can tell you hands down that The Michelin Energy MXV4 standard tires suck beyond comparison....perhaps they're better with wider wheels but I have SEVERAL gripes with them and I will never buy that tire again.

Here are my complaints:

Tread pattern is not suited for a 16x6 wheel....horrible wheelspin in wet conditions.
Due to the ridiculous intricacy of the tread pattern, it will come off in chunks.  It's so bad that I'm pretty confident that I could give expert testimony in a court of law that these tires were on a suspect's vehicle...because I have NEVER seen a tire on a Honda or Acura wear in this way.  These tires also came stock on the 04 and 05 TSX and possibly higher year models (but I'm not 100% sure) and they all exhibit this trademark wear pattern within the middle of their usable life.  By the time they're 2/3 to 3/4 of their usable life, they look ragged and torn up..chunks of tread missing everywhere.  I only wish I had a picture to show how gross they look.

Granted other tires may exhibit this phenomenon, but I've worked in the industry for 4 years and this is the only tire that I've seen this kind of wear with.

Oh well. That just means I'll have to either get new tires sooner or do my wheels and tires as my next upgrade

I have gone through several brands of tires, so I'll tell you about all of them.

Bridgestone Turanza EL41 205/60/16 (stock tires):
Pros: Last forever due to crappy (yes, crappy) treadwear! Resists hydroplaning for the most part.
Cons: Not grippy at all

Kumho Ecsta AST 225/40/18:
Pros: Good balance of treadwear and grip. Aggressive tread design and low noise.
Cons: May not be sticky enough for you weekend warriors. It's an all season tire afterall.

Kumho Ecsta ASX 225/40/18:
Pros: Lasts a while due to higher treadwear but with the trade off of less grip.  Great tread design that resists hydroplaning.
Cons:Not as sticky as the ASTs. Somewhat noisy and tend to pull to the ruts in the road.

Falken Ziex ZE-912s 225/40/18:
Pros: Stickyyyy and quiet
Cons: Tires don't last too long due to lower tread wear

BFGoodrich T/A KDW 225/45/18:
Pros: Suuuuuuuuuuuper sticky. Aggressive tread design, quiet, and resists hydroplaning.
Cons: None so far.  Still running these. Around 2k miles with the tires on and no issues thus far.

Can anyone speak for the Falken FK452 ?

They seem to be liked on some other forums.

I'm having a hard time deciding on some new tires.  I've decided to go with a performance all-season tire due to better treadwear.  I've been reading on many of the big online sites.  I'm trying to decide which review carry more weight....the tire rack reviews from their test track or the consumer survey reviews.  Often the highest ranking tires according to TR track tests are not the highest ranking tires on the consumer surveys.

I've narrowed my selection to the following:

Yokohama H4S  $102
Yokohama W4S  $102
BF gforce super-sport A/S  $105
ContiExtremeContact (current tires) $100
Goodyear Eagle GT  $100
Bridgestone Potenza G019 Grid  $125

Thoughts?

Bridgestone Potenza G019 Grid. I personally have these on my TL Type S rims, and I have to say they perform really well all year around. Heavy snow, It got me through with ease. Dry weather, it gripped and hugged the road greatly even with my S/C.

DONT BUY NANKANG TIRES....

These tires where purchased last September 2008 with the VSR wheel and look at them now 6-7-09.

Wear over time was okay considering the amount of driving I do daily.  However, the down side is look at how they break/split apart.  It’s F-ing scary!!!

I did hit a nice sized pot hole but dam and this is the good tire I took a picture of…  The one I had to replace had four splits in totals.  3 on the out side in the last but biggest in side where the rim bent.

LOOK THEY ARE NOT OLD TIRES!!!!

The damage:
