My second attempt on TL retro

second attempt on my TL retrofit project in addition to my FX35 projects that i have in fog light spaces

Parts for project:
***OEM blackhoused headlights $100 (one pair already ruined. good thing i had 2 pairs)
***TL projectors $177
***Aftermarket digital Ballasts 55W $110
***zkw replica lenses $82.50
***philips DL50 bulbs $110
***not sure about shrouds(maybe fx35 or MB S- class, or real E-46 that i have)

**Will not gona do foreground mod because it decreases output
**color mod, 1 or 2 spacers on lens
**got slope cutoff TL projectors but have second pair with step cutoff so dont know which shields im gona use yet
**headlights from sablesal (both damaged, one had scratched lense couse he did not pack it right and reflector mounts inside are broken, one outside broken as well). 2 sets of headlights, 2 with good lenses(one practically  brand new, no rock chips or scraches)

plan right now is to mount TL farther in reflector so i dont have to cut oem mounting for reflector so i can retain oem adjustment capability.
TL will have to sit farther in housing so most likely back of housing has to be cut, solution to cover that is back housings from FX35 headlights that i have which from what i measured will fit very nicely.

thats all for now. i will take new pics. will have to delete all others  since that's history

Good luck Misha.  My TL retrofit has been on hold for a while now.  Now it's a race to see who can finish first!!

Sounds like  it should come out nice. I never though of opening the headlights with a heat gun. Shouldn't this be the more common method or are there issues with it. It seems like It would be safer.

More issues because your headlights aren't evenly heated.  I use the oven method and then pull out the heat gun afterwards if necessary.

no real issues, it just takes a lot longer. couse you have to heat up headlight all the way around first and then gently pry it apart. it took me like 40 min to do one headlight, in over it took me 5-10. but i burned one of my fx35 headlights on bottom couse i guess it was too hot.

made middle cross cut cutout template so i can put it on back of reflector and cutout that shape. this way projector will be inserted from back of of reflector and just lens holder will be seen

might just use e-46 shrouds for simplicity pupose since it will cover everything nicely

TL projectors sucks balls to retrofit in the accord headlight. It can be done but it is a punk.

i know it can be done. i have seen it done before. but i want to do it properly couse what i seen was mounted to back housing and not adjustable as far as i can tell

today i marked how back needs to be cut and drew perpendicular lines for reference points. it was pain using right angle rulers and stuff but i got it done and hope it works as it should

just take your time man. and hit up hidplanet I saw the TL post a lot time ago. Maybe it is on v6p in the hid section.

trying to figure out how to mount reflector so i can have same reference points, hmm mounting leser leveler on fecletor somewhere and using that line as reference, i will have to look in to this. now have to find cheap laser leveler

damn we have laser levelers at work but probably wont be able to buy them till weekends couse they are packed and person in charge doesnt want to unpack them
$2.50 each. i would get 2 just in case

make sure you measure it on your car. I measure it off my car and when I put them on the beam was like this V and I was like WTF can't see.....

i will try . i think i can pull it off without taking headlights off.

got the laser levelers at work.


i got nice idea off youtube for alignment.

here is how

put halogen bulb in. turn it on and sit reflector so beam is horisontal.
this will give you reference points.
i will do following
with this leveler if it works. i will put halogen in. mount reflector so beam is horizontal. mount this leser leveler in high beam bulb socket so horisontal lines match up. and then i can adjust beam of projector to align with beam of laser

follow what im saying? this way beam of projectors has to be horizonal
