I think if I get the 2nd gen Apple TV, I'd want to set up my old desktop with a better processor, more memory, and a 2 TB external hard drive.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm going to do a bit more research and will probably pick it up. HDMI out is great for me, my tv has two inputs for it.

My wife wants to get a netbook, so we decided to go to best buy to check it out. We looked the iPads and she really liked them. They seem pretty cool for what they are. The 10 battery life is great and it's response time is really quick.

Normally I'd agree with you Z but, the Ipad2 is pretty cool, and does alot of shit and I pod touch couldn't come close to. I won't buy one because they are over priced but, I'm sort of a fan of the innovation they have made to tablets.
anyone use Google TV?

That was my impression too from what I saw. When you compare it to a netbook, the 16gb version with just wifi, is pretty comparable. Most netbooks come with 250gb hard drives, but she doesn't need all that. That's what her desktop is for. It's really for when she wants to look at recipes when she's in the kitchen and to do some surfing when we're in bed. She complains that my laptop is too heavy and refuses to use it anymore since she broke it last week and is now getting repaired.

I got a 64gb iPad 2 3G and then a 64gb iPad 3G for my grandmother and I honestly don't think the 2 is worth the extra $100. Unless you just really want the facetime camera. I have the iPhone 4 jailbroken so I can facetime whenever I want. It's really awkward to take a picture with the iPad. It is faster and thinner and mine is white, but I would have rather pocketed the $100 and gotten two iPads. I waited in line at Best Buy for an hour only to find out they didn't get any 3Gs so I walked next door to Wal-Mart waited for 10 minutes and got one. I wanted the 16gb but the 64gb is all they had left.

I guess he has money to burn. I'd rather waste my money on parts that actually make my car faster, hookers, and drugs. Fucking amateurs. :

I'm still against Apple's shit and I still say the ipad is an oversized ipod touch. Most of the apps are exactly the same for both platforms. And like you said Mike, they're way overpriced. I'd rather get a netbook and pocket the rest of the money even if I had a netbook and hated its small size.

or the Motorola Xoom. I played with one for a couple minutes at Best Buy, and it's pretty sweet.
