Here is a DIY and review on the Ultra Racing 4 Point Rear Lower Arm Brace. First off is the review. There is a definite increase in steering control. I took it on a test drive, and I happened to take some corners at some fairly high speeds. (50-60mph on a 110 degree corner) The bar helps keep the car planted to the ground, and it does help take the corners at a higher speeds. I just install this so I will make a future review when I do take the corners on some auto cross and track courses. Another thing is that the brace does touch the bottem of my exhaust. There is a slight vibration, and there is an increase in noise during pre accleration or during WOT.

On to the DIY. It is a fairly easy install. Only 4 bolts and some simple tools should do the job.

Tools:

14mm deep socket
17mm deep or shallow socket
1/2 or 3/8 ratchet (whichever you prefer)

The Bar:



Step 1: Remove the 14mm bolt that is on the lower control arm that is connected to the rear sub frame.





Step 2: Remove the 17mm bolts that are on the side that connects the rear lower sub frame mount to the frame.






Step 3: Place bar in its place and install all the bolts back in its original place. Finish product is as shown.

Looks like its touching your exhaust. Is that what is causing the vibration and noise? approx how heavy is it?

The exhaust is touching the bar and thus causing the vibration and noise. The bar itself is very light. I would say the bar is roughly about 2 lbs if that.

It is holding up great, and I got the one from the Accord sedan. Its cheaper by like $20.

I was going to make a new thread but i figured i would post here first and if anything it can be separated later if it escalates.

I saw this brace and other similar components online and i thought, is it possible to make one of these? I have a bunch of metal pipes and metal bits and pieces back home, as well as a welder. The design of these things seems pretty simple so i was thinking about making one. Or maybe the simpler designs such as these.



What do you think? It would be way cheaper.

Oh and I saw this video that can help with the installation mentioned in the OP as well.
