I'm still running Honda fluids for both even though I've considered swithching up the brake fluid.

You must use Honda (or made for Honda) PS fluid, it has a high silicone content just like Honda AT fluid, putting in anything else will damage the seals and system.

What Paul said. Use only Honda Power Steering fluid or equivalant. As for the brake fluid, you can use any Dot 3 or Dot 4.

All my fluids are OEM Honda. I would take Paul's advice.

I would stay away from synthetic brake fluid. That is mainly for high performance braking system like BBK or cars pre-equipped with BBK. Also, synthetic brake fluid is use for mainly track use.

Mixing synthetic fluid and dot3/4 is bad, if you really want to go synthetic (although major overkill for street use), you need to thoughly bleed the entire system, I have seen mixed synt/dot actually sludge up.

run honda only. especially for brake fluid. the 5.1synthetic stuff is not compatible with the dot3 stuff honda uses.
as for bleeding the power steering... in most cars what i do is just get it on a lift and fill up the resovoir. keep the cap open and turn the wheel. just like the radiators.

You don't need a lift, but yeah, get the front wheels off the ground and turn the wheel from one stop to the other several times.

You don't even really need to lift the front end to "bleed" the system. Turning the wheel lock to lock a few times will clear out any air in the P/S system.

Hey Skip, I have seen a couple times (when a system has really been drain, like a rack replacement) were putting full pressure on the system from turning the wheeel with the full car weight on it has blow out seals, so I have just made it a best practices rule to get the weight off the front wheels when bleeding out the PS system...
