Apple won a lawsuit with Samsung that has nothing to do with Android. But google is buying compines that hold a lot of patterns in mobile technology. The problem is as these law suits are won and lost the consumer is the only entity affected. Samsung has plenty of capital to pay the fines but they are going to change more for there products to make up for it.

I'm not caught up on Apple's OS updates nor do I care but if its anything like Google's maps in Android with the integrated navi, I can see that happening.

Visually its different but I think the coding probably looks quite similar

It's neither. The whole point is they just straight ripped off apple. I don't care how much they did or didnt improve on it. A stolen idea is a stolen idea. Windows mobile os is a perfect example of a unique idea. Android is not. You do know that eric Schmidt was part of google and apple at one point and was part of the iPhone development. And a year after the iPhone came out, the first android phone on tmobile came out. Yet Steve jobs made sure that Eric Schmidt was in the dark about the iPad, so it took them some extra time to rip off of apples new product. Because that's all they are is rip off artists.

I'm pretty sure Android is written entirely different than iOS underneath, therefore you can't say it's completely ripped off.

It's kind of like Windows vs. Linux. They both look similar and do the same functions, but are completely different on the back-end.

Either way, I don't give a shit who stole what anymore. I don't want Android to go, because the competition between Google and Apple will only make innovation better. Just imagine what our smartphone technology would be like today if Apple was the only producer. Their advances in hardware tech would be marginal. We wouldn't have huge ass screens, crazy amounts of ram, and quad core processors. Apple had to respond to Android's advanced tech by implementing their own. Besides that, I don't see why Apple would need to make more powerful phones when iOS really hasn't changed since its original launch.

Some of you fan boys need to realize that apple took cues from other companies when developing the original I phone and ios. The first smart phone was created in 1993 by IBM. The orginal iPhone stole to use your term a ton of functionality from rim and palm. Oh and by the way in ios5 the notification bar at the top of the screen, wireless syncing, tabbed browsing, split keyboard, ability to open apps from the lock screen, and over the air updates were all stolen directly from Android.

At the end of the day.... Phones are just meant to take phone calls but we get caught up with all the bells and whistles.

Not even the custom stuff. A lot of the custom stuff for Android is cherry picks from others so it makes it a royal pain to even know who the originator is. Either way, I like how there's more customization with Android and literally EVERYTHING minus the hardware can be changed as opposed to Apple that locks you into the same boring UI they've always had.

It's all preference. Google has more features but apple focus on quality not quantity. Plus google finally out sold the iPhone 4s for the month of August now that the iPhone 5 is out sIII will be in the shadow again lol
