we haven't let her play with ANY dogs in our neighborhood because i think she is still a little wary of doing it. anytime we take her out and she sees a dog, we pick her up and go the other day. she does this thing now where she barks if she sees someone or a dog but its only 1 bark. everyone in our neighborhood saw it on the news and was so worried about her but now they are happy she's doing okay.

glad to hear that shes doing well, but i honestly think you should get out there and let her play with other dogs ASAP (as long as the vet says she's healthy to do so).  now as a puppy is the time that she may develop a life-long anti-socialization fear towards other animals.  picking her up, coddling or taking her the other way just reinforces the fear she's feeling.

im no dog expert, but from personal experience i think its important now more than ever to show her that other dogs are not to be feared.  just my $0.02.

just an update.

my dog is doing okay. she's still on her 3 medications which we have to keep giving her until it's all gone. shes healing but the cuts on her stomach are still there which are gonna take a bit to heal. we haven't let her play with ANY dogs in our neighborhood because i think she is still a little wary of doing it. anytime we take her out and she sees a dog, we pick her up and go the other day. she does this thing now where she barks if she sees someone or a dog but its only 1 bark. everyone in our neighborhood saw it on the news and was so worried about her but now they are happy she's doing okay.

my girlfriend got a call from petsmart corp saying they would pay the banfield bill and they need her to sign something. our lawyer said do not sign anything because it could be a trick saying to authorize charges against us. all she is going to go do is get a copy of that and give it to the lawyer and he has to keep doing his work and present a case. basically i THINK we are trying to get petsmart to pay that bill and the other bills are going towards the owner. because the dog has no previous attacks that are known, dangerous dog investigation has already made a decision saying they are getting a warning and that is it. they made their decision so fast which was BS but whatever we're not stopping til all this is paid and done!

I was a veterinary technician for three years. I have a few questions... What are the wounds like? Did they put drains in? Are you flushing them and what medicine is the dog on? This seems like a really quick recovery for a pit bull attack. From all my experience pitt bulls are some of the best dogs. I side with the nurture in the nature vs nurture argument. I would request for that dog to be reviewed by a veterinarian  to see about euthanasia. Most pit attacks end in death, I have personally broken up 3 pit fights, all three one of them died so you are very lucky. Hope your dog recovers quickly and definitely socialize the dog as much as possible because it will be aggressive before you know it. It is proven that Cocker Spaniels and Collies are two breeds that are naturally more aggressive than pits. What did the owner look like?

the wounds were on her face and chest/abdomen/stomach. punctures and cuts. i don't know if they did drains but i want to say yes. she has finished her medicine and is doing fine. our vet was surprised at how shes healing so quick. i'm lucky she didnt die, i'd be devastated. she is starting to socialize with other dogs again and isnt scared. from what my girl told me, the owner was like redneck-ish with his girl and 2 kids and they looked like trash

That's good to hear. I hate to say it but with dogs you have to judge a book by its cover regarding the owner. I remember bringing back two pitbulls at the hospital I worked at and the owner was similar to what you described. I didn't want to let the dogs stay together because I didn't trust the upbringing. Needless to say, the next morning there was a bloodbath with one dead dog and another half dead dog that was euthanized. They can definitely be dangerous, but a lot of things have capabilities that are dangerous if used incorrectly.

This is why they should punish the deed and not the breed, but that's never the case. I'm just glad, Roxy made a good recovery
