Cell phones suck.  I want to get a basic phone again.  Then I'll get an iPad.

iPhone or nothing! I do believe I'm a little biased though. I have played with the droid and found it to be twitchy compared to the iPhone. Just my .02. As for motorola, I'm not impressed with their products either. I've also had numerous phones from them and they turned out to be crap.
that's funny.. i had an iPhone.. sold it after about 4 months..

i actually like my droid better than i did my iPhone..  basically the same thing, but i get the option of a physical keyboard, a better network in my area, and better gmail integration..

Fair enough. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. My phone gives me better signal in my area so we all have our preferences. No big. I like the iphone because it doesn't have the keyboard and it feels less bulky to me than the droid. Plus, mine is jailbroken and unlocked so the only thing that keeps me attached to my service is the contract. Either way, I have no complaints with my service. I've been treated right by them for 4 years now and my family has dealt with them for much longer without complaints.

Those are the 2 main things that are detractors from the iPhone.  I'm not concerned about gmail integration though.  The touch screen isn't that bad though, compared to other touch screens I've used.  The shitty network makes a difference though.  I know a lot of people that will say iPhones suck and that they're awesome.  I'm sure there are as many people that would say that about the Motorola Droid.  I'm still not convinced about the Droid stuff though.  I will however keep my eye on Google though.

I'm really interested in the Nexus One that is supposedly coming out on Verizon tomorrow. I wonder how expensive it'll be, lol.

It's $279 with a contract extension, and $179 for a new subscriber on T-Mobile expect the prices to be the same.

Sorry to ease away from the geeky cell talk, but I have a question.

How could I change careers and jump fields after I've been doing the same thing for over 6yrs? I want to do something else, I want to have a job where I like what I do at least. I think I'm picking the wrong time to feel this way because of the economy. I'm just miserable in what I'm doing right now and feel a change. Anyone ever done this before?

I have but, within the same company so I'm unfamiliar with the switching of companies. My general understanding is that if you have a good work history you should be able to find a job in another line of work. The starting salaries are where you tend to get hurt a little bit. You’re going to go from being experienced to not being experienced. It doesn't hurt to get your resume out there and see if you get any bites. They say the best time to look for a job is while you have a job.

Exactly what I was going to say. While I don't recommend you start hunting while AT work, make sure you KNOW what you want to do. Then ask yourself some questions about it:

Why do you want to do it?
Is it going to require you to go back to school?
Can you handle a salary drop?

etc. Just be sure to think it through and not do anything without thinking about it, especially if you have a family etc. Also, job security might be at risk as the new guy at any place. Might be a hard risk to take with a family etc, etc.

All in all, if its something you really want to do, you can do it, no matter what.

I feel ya Jeremy.  I'm in the same boat.  Right now, I've been waiting over 2 weeks to schedule a meeting with the department manager to try and make a move within the company to a different department and different location.  It seems that in every staff meeting, our VP always says "we e-mail you job listings" whenever anyone asks about career development, and then goes on to say "have a meeting with your department manager if you're interested in any of these jobs".  Well, I'm interested.  There's just no meeting yet.

The last time I tried this with a supervisor, they just said they coudln't help me and said I should just re-invest my efforts into the job I have.  He quit a year later because he found a better job at a different company.  I still have the same job that I hate showing up to.

I'm really thinking it's just the company that's making it shitty. When I was at my old job it wasnt that bad, I could take 1.5hr-2hr lunches and get off every other Friday, sick leave was a big pot that everyone took from. I had it MADE....It's a clusterfuck where I'm at now lol.

Side note, I just saw a ZDX in the parking lot, it's fugly as hell!
