If you know your shit, and I know you do, you can get paid very well down here.

Sure, I know about certain things.  The question is, can I apply it to something that makes better money and moves me the fuck out of the northeast?

I'm sure cost of living is much less down here. The average cost per square foot for housing in my area is from 100-200 and can get into the 200-400 range for the 4k+ sq ft. Homes. Those would be pretty nice places too, theaters, swimming pools, etc. The nice thing is that you could probably go 5 miles down the road and pay 75 per square foot. This is in a Country Club community so if you get out of that its even cheaper. Im not sure what it would be though because I havent ever researched outside areas. What are housing costs like up there? What are they like in Mobile, Jeremy?  I bet pretty much everything else is cheaper down here too.

I just did a COL comparison between Boston and Tupelo and Tupelo is 40% cheaper overall and housing is 67% cheaper. I didnt realize the North East was so expensive.... Im not suggesting Tupelo, just something I though was interesting and another thing to consider.

Yeah Bill, cost of living is much higher in the NE. When I bought this house it was about $95-100 a sq ft. I'm sure it's gone down since then.

The homes my parents are looking at in alabama are less expensive than the house they're living in now (in maryland), but twice the size (give or take). just sayin..

Average housing cost near me, in the fucking boonies, is about $250-300k for under 2000 square feet.

Hville right Beau? It's really nice up there. That'd be my second choice to move to. If I had a choice.

yea huntsville it is.  I still haven't gone with them to look, and don't plan on it until they actually make the move.. however, the houses my dad's realtor is sending him are in-fucking-credible.. he's been trying to bribe me to move with them by looking at the homes that have a sweet ass pool or theater room, and a seperate apartment style basement that I'd take over.. it's just not happening though lol.

but yea, I've heard nothing but good things bout that town.

Well, I was wrong. Huntsville is cool too. I have only been there a few times though... I have talked to my Dad a few times about moving out of the south and he tells me not to. I think I just need a bigger city. He was raised in the Greenwich Connecticut area and he loves the south. Give it a try Beau. What's your first choice Jeremy?

Wow, that's high. My parents are going to look at a house Wednesday for me and my sister for college. It is 1500 square feet and $169k and it is pretty nice. I hope we get it! This is crazy, its cheaper for my dad to buy that house than pay to rent one. This is what 169k will get. 1500 square feet, 3 br, and 2 bath. I would say it is average maybe a little above average for the town.

I take it that is pretty fast. I think he is on a nuclear carrier, are those any faster?
the nuke carriers can do in excess of 30 knots, the actual top speed is classified. and they are 50 times the size of that little ship. i'll be ona nuke carrier in another year or so.

huntsville is really nice, i lived there for about a year. the downtown area is really nice.
