I'm trying to decide what to do with my computer situation. I get $1000 to go towards a computer when I graduate high school. I currently have a 10 month old HP with 4gb of ram, 250gb hard drive, and a 2.00ghz processor running Windows 7 Ultimate. Basically I can pocket the $1000 if I dont get a new computer. Im trying to decide if this computer will be sufficient. It surpasses my majors requirement, but will it be enough.. I'm thinking if I get a new one it will be a 15" Macbook Pro. I think when I get my 13" pro for school in a few weeks it will be a good indication of whether or not I want to go mac. I have never heard anyone complain about one that they have. So, should I keep my current one and pocket the $1000 or replace it and what with? If I get a PC I definitely want the 14.1" screen. If I get a macbook it will be a 15". Obviously if I go mac I will have to make up the difference.

I guess he has money to burn. I'd rather waste my money on parts that actually make my car faster, hookers, and drugs. Fucking amateurs. :

Personally I think Macs are way too overpriced. I'd pocket the money. What are you going to be majoring anyways? As long as you're not going to be doing intense video editing and rendering, you should be fine.

lol nothing intense. Business administration in banking and finance with a focus on corporate finance is the formal name. I think I could just take a calculator and be fine....
On a side note, I'm currently planning my senior trip. Eight of us are road tripping to Montana. So the Honda will have about 4200 more miles on it then planned.
. I think it is going to be pretty fun.

I would check newegg.com for great deals on laptops.
As for my laptop, I have a 16.4 inch VAIO with 500gb HDD Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz and a 512 mb video card.
Do I use these features unless I'm playing GTAIV or doing video editiing? No.
Will it apply to my Computer Engineering major later on? Maybe.
My advice would be pocket the money. If you do not have any current or future tasks that do require/will require higher video processing power, why waste the money? Especially on a Mac, in which case you will be spending more cash for a glowing Apple. Don't get me wrong Macs are great, and stable (not as stable as advertised, but slightly better than Windows 7), but I could never figure out a reasonn to spend a 1000 extra dollars for a computer that has the same specs as mine (at the time) except for the fact that mine has blu-ray and a full hd screen.
